I wish I had done my research first and read these reviews as sadly I fell into the low price trap and have had a nightmare experience with them since signing the contract, they need put out of business!

Having just set-up a new contract with Origin I tried to resolve 2 issues.
    1. Broadband speed about half the download thery said they provide and..
    2. The router I received is so small it doesn't provide coverage for the whole house (3 bed semi!!)
I asked to cancle mu contract to find this conveniently expires 14 days after you commit to them up to the day before they connect you. So, there's no way to cancel the contract after you get terrible technical advice on day one without incurring charges.
Aparently a wireless router will give a greater coverage area when the broadband speed increases - my technical representative said I would have to buy a router from them that should provide the coverage they promised before agreeing to change from EE.
Beware of this company, they do NOT provide faster broadband nor do they provide an appropriate router to cover a small semi

    Stay far away from them.

They are a big rip off. Highly bad customer service. Charges unnecessary for what they should have provided in the first place. If a person called Kaine Beetham from Origin gets on your case, then god help you. He is absolutely hopeless.

I switch ISPs quite often to find good deals, and Origin Broadband seemed like it would be a decent provider for a reasonable price, but I was very very wrong, the connection cuts out several times a week while I am using it, and there are very frequent slowdowns. The speed I sometimes get is more like 56k than broadband. The quality of their broadband seems to have taken a very sharp dive earlier this year and now this is a company to steer clear of at any cost.

Fibre broadband frequently drops out for minutes at a time during evenings. Regularly find websites blocked due to "Unusual traffic from your IP address." Static IP address was changed with no warning. Spent more hours than I care to think about listening to their on-hold music and staff have never called me back despite promises on several occasions. They are currently blocking Vodafone so my SureSignal box can't connect - Zero progress with this for 6 days now despite calling every day.

Please do not make the same mistake I did and trust these reviews. I was stupid enough to sign up to a contract with origin for VDSL (fibre) broadband earlier this year and I have had nothing but trouble. It's a gamble of whether I'll get home and find my broadband is working or not. The service is absolutely terrible. I'm writing this now after having my broadband down for 3 days. I've just spent 50 minutes on hold to technical support to be told that it's a widespread problem. You will find that any time there is an issue, it is always Openreach's fault and never anything that Origin can do. I'd also like to add that I'm calling technical support at midnight here, and it still takes nearly an hour to speak to someone so I dread to think what it's like during the day. I've spoken to them on a number of occasions and wasted many hours on the phone, to always be told it's an Openreach issue and there is nothing they can do but wait. A courtesy email, call or text really would help if there is an issue, or even some kind of update on their website. Please Origin, get it together. Until then, avoid avoid avoid and just pay a little bit extra to go with a reputable supplier!

Been left with an old router for over 5 years. Called to arrange a house move after we completed on a house just before the bank holiday only to be told we wouldn't get a new router even though it would be a new contract. We found another provider with a better service and they are now trying to charge exit fees for a contract I never signed up for. The only email I have from them says I started a new contract 1st January 1970!! Customer serive is rubbish, Internet quality is rubbish stay well clear

Want give me my money back even thought I cancelled one day after signing up. Do not use this company. Decided to cancel due to press coverage of them being in trouble (financially) - no refusing to give me my sign up deposit back. Seriously do not consider these.

I have had 2 experiences with Origin, at our old address had no problems, speed was good, never cut out, never needed to call support.
At the new address was totally different, speeds were awful, connection dropped multiple times a day (1MB-33MB, suppose to get 75MB) Took 4 months, over 10 calls before finally making an official complaint, it was complaints that confirmed there was a fault, not tech support, not 2nd line tech support but complaints, if you can believe that.
Asked them repeatedly for a static IP address, never got one.
There was always a 30 second delay before establishing a connection when trying upload or download files, origin claimed it was my server in germany that was the problem. Spent months trying to improve performance because I thought the problem was my server.
We switched to plusnet 4 days ago, same line, same phone number but now we get 75MB solid DL speed, connection never drops and low and behold, instant connection when uploading and downloading files to my server.
They are the most useless, rubbish ISP I have ever had to deal with and I have dealt with alot of them, I am so glad we switched to someone who can actually fulfill the contract terms, unlike these amateurs.

Do yourself a favour, if you are having problems switch providers, if you are considering switching to origin, don't, you will regret it.

Awful awful service. I have been with 0.5Mb broadband (wired) for nearly 20 days now and am paying £33 per month. I email and ring up constantly and get no response. I emailed again to ask why they are ignoring me and I get sent 'LOL' from one of their customer services representatives. Please DO NOT use origin broadband.

Incredibly disappointed with my experience with Origin. I was with them for over a year before cancelling. The speed and reliability was poor, with streaming tv services constantly buffering. At least four times in the year I had to call up to report that the Wi-Fi had gone completely for no reason. When I called to cancel they said that all broadband services to my address would have the same issues, which was not true, I was with Sky for about 6 years with no problems. Then, they didn't bother telling me that as I was cancelling I would need to return the router. This also wasn't mentioned in the cancellation email they sent. When I phoned to query why I was being charged £40 they said it was because I had to return the router. Apparently this is in the terms and conditions, but I pointed out that given the high cost, why would this not be mentioned in the phone call when I cancelled. This is blatantly a scam because they know most people won't read the terms and conditions.

I am afraid after 3 months I went back to BT , a young company trying to compete without the infrastructure to deal with the customer traffic they have generated. to be fair they are nice people who do not have the systems and structure to deliver a capable customer service . Avoid until they get it right .

One word - don't. We were with these for a couple of months during which everything was fine, then they sent us a card saying they were making some changes. From that point onwards everything was a disaster. The connection kept dropping out, the speed yo-yo'd wildly from ridiculously fast, to an unworkable snail's pace, and we made countless calls to their technical team spending hours on hold. Every time we had to wait ages to talk to someone, then wait even longer to speak to someone in Advanced Technical. Every time somebody different promised to personally sort it out, one guy told us he'd get back to us by email or phone the following day, knowing full well he wasn't even going to be in the office on that day. Origin told us the line is at fault, BT Openreach told us the router is at fault, and finally we've had enough - we've been paying for superfast broadband which has turned out to be completely non-functioning broadband, and we've ditched them. How are these clowns still in business?

If i could give minus stars i would, put up with Origin for the entirety of my 18 month contract. Took it up through a cashback website and to start, never received the cashback. As soon as broadband set up, they mixed my details with another customer account which stopped me being able to log onto broadband, once remedied (after many calls to customer services with minimum 45 mins before anyone answered), constant WIFI dropping, very slow speeds (and this was meant to be quicker than my previous provider, paying £10 more than before for the privalage! Received an estimated final estimate for £60 when i'd gone through my bank statements, I had actually paid for 18 months service and i'm leaving a month early. Contacted customer services to explain to them to sort their billing out.. Girl didn't sound like she knew what she was doing, told me the account will be updated to show i owed nothing, then get a final payment due letter to say i now owe £35! Cancelled direct debit, router sent packing. Calling customer services again. Honestly AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

    A dreadful experience.
Changed my home phone number without informing me. Still waiting to hear from them what the telephone number is.
Promised to inform BT my contract was finished. Never did and cost me 6 weeks rental for no BT line.
Have never ever responded by email and never confirmed any of my contract details. Long wait for any customer service and plenty of promises and no result.
    For Gods sake look elsewhere.
On the plus side the Broadband is cheap and reliable.

The reason I am posting this review is because Origin are lying to Trustpilot by saying my reviews are false because I am not a customer!, I have noticed they have an active campaign using the same excuse with other bad reviews to have them removed and Trustpilot are cooperating with Origin, I had all the same problems as the other reviewers, Origin illegally attempting to take money after ignoring your confirmstion that you will nit renew the contract etc, it is a good job that I do not actually live close to this shower of thieves, I have never, ever had to deal with such a disgusting excuse of a company before, they should be closed down by OFCOM.

I cannot believe a UK company can do so bad and keep trading. I would give a zero if it was possible, why, read on.

I had been with Origin since Jan 2017 and they were as expected a super Yorkshire company, yes there “was” another apart from Plus net! It all went wrong when Origin “upgraded” their service on 26th September 2017 and informed users this was happening and connectivity would be lost but no problem check this and if still problems contact them.

This happened and because I was away I did not report it until 30 September when I spent around 5 hours on and off the phone talking to various departments. I add that all the people I talked to were very polite especially the engineer who got me to make sure BT socket was good, (new Jan 17), and to try another router, filter and leads which all to no avail. At the end of all the conversations they said they needed to send an engineer round on either Monday 2 Oct PM or Tuesday 3 Oct AM or PM to check the line, why I do not know as phone was still working and the router was plugged directly into the BT socket. I stated I did not believe an engineer visit inside my house was needed but that was ignored. They also had the cheek to say if the fault was not my line I would have to pay for the visit. After I let my feelings known they reneged on this as stated I would not be charged in any case. I had been away for a week and needed to catch up on work and personal on line so agreed. I emphasised the fact that I needed the broadband ASAP. I used my mobile broadband to do the essential items but over the next few days had to pay over £30.00 to do this. After the first week of waiting for Origin to do anything I mitigated my mobile costs by changing my tariff to a much higher data allowance, 100Mb to 2.5Gb.

Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd went without any engineer visit or contact from Origin. I emailed on several occasions but got no reply. I decided that was enough so I emailed a final chance for them to sort it by making my house available on 15 minutes notice all day Monday 9th Oct. No reply to email and no contact. I informed them they had failed to keep their part of the contract and I was cancelling it. I signed up to Plus Net although this could not be activated until 25 October 1 month after Origin caused the issue.

I had a couple of emails saying I could not cancel as I did not give them the chance to fix the fault by allowing them into my house. I gave them ample opportunity to enter my house but suggested in writing to them that the fault was not in the house as the phone was working perfectly all the time. The new Plusnet service was also started without a visit to the house; I just plugged the router in and it worked as I believed it would. I believe the fault was further back up the line from my house and probably in the exchange where some setting or configuration was not checked or changed. I also believe they have not “upgraded” but changed their supplier to Talk Talk; in mine and thousands of others opinion the worst supplier in the industry. Another item is the deadlock letter which was supposed to be issued 5 days from 19 October and still not received, I emailed them on 29 Oct to chase this as well. They did offer me a 1-month refund and £20.00 but stipulated if I referred this to Ofcom this would be withdrawn, to me a bribe but unfortunately for them it was in writing. The latest thing is a bill for next year for a service I have not been getting since end September. I have emailed twice but no replies. What a joke. I have now referred the matter to Ofcom and they are carrying out an investigation.

AVOID this once great company like the plague.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY currently have less than 1mb download speed when average is supposed to be at least 7mb, DOUBLE NAT and they want us to pay an EXTRA few pound a month to get rid of DOUBLE NAT. Also just a complete waste of money and we are switching soon to maybe virgin media or sky. Any internet broadband that can GARUNTEE good download speed. Currently with Origin it takes roughly one hour to download a 67mb file. Terrible poor internet supplier. They should be ashamed.

We were looking for a budget package for a holiday let and found a deal from Origin costing £154 per annum if you pay a year up front. Sounds great, right? 3 months later though still no working broadband!

We first placed the order end of Dec 2017. First of all they cocked up the initial order and activation was delayed by over a month. Then when we came to connect to the internet couldn't get online. Spent over an hour on the phone to technical help configuring the router. Still no internet.

Technician says an engineer visit might be necessary and he'll contact BT. Over a week later, no appt booked. So I call back. No-one has contacted BT! An engineer from BT visited the property today and is 100% sure the problem is not theirs, but probably a faulty router.

I can't wait any longer as I have paying guests arriving soon who are expecting broadband as part of the deal. I am cancelling my contract and want a full refund. I'll stick to BT in the future.

Communication is terrible. Emails go unanswered, they say they'll do something and then don't do it. AVOID THESE AMATEURS!

Absolute worst company I have delt with in my entire life.
3 hours and I'm currently still on hold. No internet for 3 days! What am I even paying for.
Considering I have to work from home due to lockdown and I am a key worker to clients as a health professional, this is an absolute nightmare!
Run while you can from this company.

After ordering a month ago I am still without internet. There was initially a confusion with the address which was corrected (was just moving).

After their CS team sent their provisioning team an urgent email I was given an installation date the day before the move. I called about 10 minutes after being notified, and a further urgent email was sent to their provisioning team.

The openreach engineer still tried to attend. I called again and still had an issue with receiving a response from their provisioning team. Another urgent internal email I get an installation date of today (24 March). This morning I receive a call from my old property.

I called, asked to speak to the provisioning team which was refused, asked to speak to a manager and was told they would put forward a 24/48 hour call back which I refused. Asked to cancel, transferred to sales who was able to actually speak to provisioning. They were not happy with my explanation of why the engineer didn't attend the new property (different exchange so couldn't attend new property, I did ask) but did put a cancellation through. They did have the nerve to mention charges.

I won't be dealing with this company again, go to a reputable company, I won't make the mistake of trying a small one again.

I joined them on an 18month supersaver deal and paid upfront for my landline and broadband. Yet almost EVERY month they kept taking money out of my account for broadband and line rental. It is unbelievable how difficult it is to get you money back from them. They keep lying which is why they are so difficult to deal with. First they promise you itl be back in your account within 7days, after 7days they say another 7days, then they increase that to 30days, then they say its not company policy to send a paid back to an account via BACs and that they've posted a cheque to my home address. A further month later when no cheque arrives and after screaming at them down the phone, they finally agreed to send my money into my account via BACs.

These fictitious cheques NEVER made an appearance. And I had to go through this same torture pretty much every month as despite being on a supersaver they refused to allow me to cancel my direct debit.

Don't even get me started with Kim in the complaints department who refuses to give you her surname. When you get sent through to her in complaints she never responds back to you when she says she will. Also when you mention members in the team you have spoken to, TWICE shes told me two members of Origin staff who promised me refunds that never arrived have now left the company. I thought I would ring customer services to see if she was telling the truth, only to find she was lying as usual.

Not only is their broadband constantly dropping speeds, their is no point speaking to anybody at Origin about anything as the whole company just send you on a wild goose chase and never resolve anything. Fastest speed I managed to get on my line with Origin was 30mbps with constant drop in connection. I have now switched to Vodafone Broadband with whom I get 38mbps on the same time with no drop in connection.

Origin Broadband are just awful. STAY AWAY!

Origin have clearly expanded too fast are unable to provide a basic service. 17 days after switching over I am yet to be connected and so have been without broadband for almost 3 weeks. I have phoned around 12-14 times spending in excess of 10 hours on hold to them. Unfortunalty I paid up front for the year- £172.49 and they refused to let me cancel a week in stating they had '8 weeks' to fix he issue.

Dreadful. Don't sign up to Origin Broadband. Truly rubbish service.

    Internet:
The broadband service often stops working. This means a long time on hold to speak to customer support. In practie I often I have had to use my mobile phone as a broadband hotspot.

Internet speed this week as low as 0.05 MB/s. Never been faster than 0.2 MB/s

    Telephone line:
My telephone line cuts out after a single ring, so I rarely get to answer it.

    Customer portal:
I can't even access the website because they keep changing my username. I have been provided with four different usernames to log in with (each time I am assured that this is the right one and the previous one was a mistake).

Yesterday (29th April 2018) I was given another username when I asked for an explanation as to why I couldn't access the website. This is the same as the second username I was given, so we are now going around in a circle. But today (30th April 2018) I get an error messag when I try to login. "Oops! We couldn't find that."

    Unexplained charges:
Yesterday I said I was leaving Origin broadband. I got an email saying that there was a £40 "router charge". I have no memory of this being included in my contract. But of course I can't access the website to check because of "Oops! We couldn't find that."

This is a truly terrible company. I left them last year when my contract was finished. They still are trying to fraudently get money from me despite emailing me and agreeing to a final settlement which I paid.
Please be very careful with this company , they are a nightmare.

Terrible company!! Overbilled me when i switched provider, they then said i couldn't have the money back as they wanted me to return the router. No other provider as ever asked me to return the router, they said they will bill me for £40.00 for the router. I told them to keep the refund and have complained to the ombudsman. You call up and are on hold for 20-30 mins, its shocking. They should be closed down, but Ofcom / Ombudsman never monitor this company or even check the reviews on them. It says online that they are expanding, but i never know how they are getting any new customers. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!

I've been with Origin since March 17 and took out their basic broadband package. The set up and transfer from Sky was easy and cheaper. I've never had an issue with the broadband and always had constant speeds thus opted to go on the Fibre package for 24.99. Yes I have read the reviews on here and did question upgrading but like I said I've had a good broadband supply since March.

Okay, I was switched to fibre on Friday 15/09/17 but had no router delivered as the router originally supplied by them wouldn't work with fibre. I had called them on 11/09/17 and 16/09/17 stating I had no router and they said it was on its way. Obviously it wasn't. When I spoke to them Friday afternoon the bloke said it would be delivered by Monday 18/09/17. Why I was told in the week it was on the way I don't know.

Anyway it arrived today, plugged in but had download speed of 7mbs and upload of 14mbs? I called them and they checked my line and my settings but still no luck. They transferred me to a level 2 tech who straight away diagnosed the problem as BT Openreach not having switched my download speed to fibre on their systems. He put me on hold and called them. When he spoke to me again after 5 minutes we tested the speed and I finally got 29mbs download :). If the speed is constant like this I may upgrade again to the fibre max but we'll see.

So if Origin can sort out their router delivery issues and facts on the telephone then 5 stars to them. Excellent customer service skills and quick to get through but like I said they should have supplied me with the router before I was switched over. The tech guys are superb by the way 10/10.

Just an update. Ive been on Fibre now for a week and Im getting 36mbs download out of a max of 38mbs. Fantastic! Have no dropouts. Well done Origin. I even had a call in the week to see if all was working okay. 10/10

Avoid at all costs, hasn't worked since it was transferred 3 weeks ago, cannot get through on the phone up to 2 hours in a queue, they ignore your emails and do not respond to their facebook pages. Would like to give them zero's. Now in the hands of a third party to get this sorted and changing provider.

At this point Origin have effectively stolen £18 from me. I bought one of their packages online on the 4th of November las year, and despite repeated calls to their call centres (along with spending a total of over an hour on hold), each time I was promised a connection date yet nothing would happen afterward. One month later I had still not received any communication about when my activation might take place, so I rang up, and said I expected a refund and for my contract to be cancelled or I would get trading standards involved. Despite a promise over the phone that a refund would be issued, I so far have still not had my money back nor any written confirmation that my account is closed. Do yourselves a favour and avoid these complete wastes of space for your own sanity
