Rightly or wrongly I signed up for a 2 year deal with Origin at a fantastic price (compared to BT). They mistakenly took out an extra £16.99 fee but I received a call saying they'd realised the error and issued a refund. The day of the switchover I received an automated phone call advising the Router would be delivered. It was and on time. Mid-afternoon BT switched off their connection, I connected up the Origin one, ran the installation CD, setup the connection in Windows Network centre and an hour later it burst into life working perfectly. I did a speed test for my postcode the maximum d/l speed i can get for my area is 6Mb and i was getting 4.2. So far so good, couldnt get it any better than that I dont think. We'll see how things go regarding the connection and speeds (3 stars given for now) but at the moment I'm happy, especially how much money Ill be saving over the term.

They forgot to send me the router, so I had no internet for 6 weeks, but was still charged.

During the contract, regularly dropped connection and speed much slower than previous provider.

After cancelling the contract, they continued to take money from my account, and then could only refund it 30 days after I complained.

    Badly run. Avoid.

Origin offers a good price for broadband services. I have a low requirement so opted for 17MB speed which when working is fine, however, lately i have found the service poor during the day which may bevdue to Outreach working on the system?
The help line was very helpful on the occasion that I needed them, extremely patient whilst sorting me out.

Do not even consider going with this crowd of cowboys. I got signed up over the phone and was promised the earth. It was going to be the fastest and best signal that was possible to get or so I was told. What rubbish. I cannot talk to anybody online and the internet and the signal just cuts off quite frequently. To make matters worse I discovered last week they have changed my phone number, which I have had for over 30 years and never even told me. My number is very important to me as people like doctors, hospital, banks, accountants, etc all call on my number. When I phoned to demand my original number be reinstated the customer service woman did not even ask for my details.Origin is the worst company I have ever had any dealings with and how they are allowed by the government to carry on trading I don't know They are pure and absolute garbage

Why did I ever change . Previous great service from BT & Sky and never had one single issue . I joined this company for price and I actually wanted to give some business to the little guys . The fact is I want them to succeed but they have chewn off far more than they capable of. Chased the buck instead of producing a good quality product for the masses.
Since January I have probably had 10 separate issues and in total wasted close to a good 24 hours of my life on hold or problem solving . Also use very crafty tactics by sending the router 3 weeks after set up when the cooling period is 2 weeks . I've seen this has been an issue for other people . You are then locked in with nowhere to go . Poor behaviour.

Warning ⚠️ Always stick to the tried and tested suppliers if you want an easy life . I hope they can resolve their issues but for now this is a terrible product plagued with issues .

My speed is limited by the BT copper wire - so it's rubbish. Origin has first class customer service enabling even a dummy like me to connect successfully. They are half the price of Talk Talk and the provider, Fleur, who Talk Talk passed me over too when they lost interest in my simple needs. I'm very happy with Origin - half the price and far better customer service. Speed is the same as Talk Talk because of BT. Max is 6 per sec.

Truly awful customer service. Origin were very quick to bill me (taking payment a month before the service started), and then billed me for additional charges that I hadn't agreed to. They ignored repeated emails to their billing department to sort this out. Current download speed is only 100Kb/s. Again, they have ignored my email complaining about this from last week. I've been on hold for an hour now waiting for someone to pick up the phone...

We've had a few issues with our broadband, and - when you can actually get through to speak to a human about them - Origin have very effectively solved them for us. However, you are likely to spend 20+ minutes on hold, waiting to speak to someone. Also, there is often absolutely no response through the online chat support, which is very frustrating.

Avoid Avoid Avoid! I regret the day I ever signed up with these ripoff merchants. They took one years up front but provided poor BB then started taking a monthly rental too. Cannot get money back. False promises from clowns who have not got a clue. So sad.

Poor customer service. I can never reach a customer service agent - I seem to be on hold for over an hour every time I call. I pay for Origin max which is £37 per month. This should give me in excess of 70mbit. No. I actually get 20mbit. They told me they will not lower my monthly cost unless I sign up to another 18 month contract with them. They refuse to help me. The service they offer is awful - you get what you pay for - if only I’d listened to my father - if you want good quality broadband, you have to pay for it. I urge anyone thinking about joining Origin Broadband to NEVER do it. I’m waiting patiently for my contract to end - then it’s straight to virgin or BT.

I joined Origin after a recommendation from a trusted friend (who, by all accounts, has had no problems like mine). For the first 6 months or so it was fine; speed was at the advertised max of 30 mbps, customer service queues were short, and representatives polite and helpful. The router I was sent failed early and I got a new one, no problems.

The last month has completely destroyed the good will I had towards Origin.

My internet cut off and I spent half an hour waiting to speak to tech support. A polite and friendly member of staff went through rebooting and then doing a factory reset on my router; this restored the internet connection but stopped the wifi working. I spent the rest of the weekend on hold and finally got through to someone after about 36 hours. The guy I spoke to was incredibly patronising and told me the wifi being down was "not our problem", as they can't provide support for every laptop and device - if the internet connection works, their work is done. I persuaded him to put me through to someone more senior, who fortunately took the opposite attitude and went through some steps with me. He concluded the router had failed, so I got my third router in 10 months.

This worked tolerably for two weeks - it did keep cutting off for half an hour at a time, and then this week died entirely. I tried the steps tech support usually put me through (rebooting, etc) to no avail. I spoke to tech support, who concluded I had been cut off for non-payment (which was simply untrue). I was put through to billing, who told me I owed £20 from last September (the nature of this alleged debt was not explained to me) and they'd tried to contact me (I've had no calls, emails, or letters about this in the 10 months I allegedly owed them money). I was put on hold, then hurriedly told that as a "gesture of goodwill" they'd waive this unexplained fee I apparently owed. They then pretty much hung up on me, without really explaining what was going on. (I was obviously more polite on the phone than I am being here!)

After being reconnected, I am now back to the same old problem - the internet works, but the wifi doesn't, and I've been on hold for half an hour. And once again I'm being told this is just fine with them - that if my devices (which have worked perfectly well for the better part of a year) aren't compatible, that's my fault.

Suffice to say I won't be renewing my contract with Origin and will be seeking to get out of it early!

Worst experience ever. Broadband cuts out on a daily basis. Have been complaining about it for the past six months, they have now stopped replying to the complaint. The best thing is you cant cancel whilst a complaint is ongoing, so by not replying they manage to block us from leaving!

I've been with Origin since early 2019. At that time they were a great company. I've always had a speedy internet connection, and usually get close to max 78mbit/s down and 20mbit/s up. The router does occsaionally seem to drop the connection, but usually in the middle of the night (probably firmware updates), and they sent me a new one a few months back completely free which I've not installed yet.

At some point in the last six months though, something's gone very wrong. Customer service chat and email addresses have been removed from the website, so you have to ring a call centre instead. We were not notified of this. They don't know anything there and can't help. There's no longer any account login, and their postcode/account checker simply doesn't work - it always tells you it can't find your details. On the call I was told the website was "low" - whatever that means - and that we'd receive an update about it in January. I'm not holding my breath, it seems very odd to take down the live service. If they're developing a new backend it'd be done in a dev environment before seamlessly rolling out to production... I'd encourage everyone to avoid Origin until they've actually sorted out their systems.

A real shame to see the downfall of a company which was so good and had great service when I joined five years ago.

    1. I tried to cancel my account 5 times during a week. The first time their agent refused to let me cancel it, and tried to tell me that I needed to stay till the end of my contract while I was offering to pay the entire fee until the end of the contract in one go.
When she finally agreed, she told me she would come back to me the next day - she was just going to find the "cheapest way out for me".

    2. She didn't contact me the next day, so I called them once again. After waiting for 35 minutes to talk to their agent about canceling, he hang up on me.

    3. I called again the next day and spoke to someone in their team who promised to log my calls and ask the cancellation team to call me up instead of the other way around. After all, I had spent nearly 2 hours in phones with their agents at this point.

    4. Nobody called me on the two following days. The following day I called twice. Both agents hang up on me. It is true, I was rude, but it wasn't uncalled for. The last agent, claimed that I could not cancel because "I had asked about the price", which I absolutely had not. I wanted to cancel no strings attached. When I asked the agent to write my side of the story into my records, she hang up. Similar to what all their agents done.

Outcome thus far: 3 hangups, 2 no callbacks.

At that point, I was tired of chasing them. I removed their direct debit rights and I intend to charge them 500 (hourly rate of 200, so far spent 2.5 hours with them) for this. Once they come to terms on how to handle their stuff, they can subtract the remainder of my contract from the fee I am asking them to pay and send me the rest. Until then I will collect interest on the sum.

Sends text with 'no engineer required' but emails an undiscussed phoneline installion date - then denys all responsibility and when cancelled will try to remove a £108 fee for the openreach cancellation.

Customer service polite but utterly useless, took three transfers just to get past the drones doggedly following their scripts and unable to deviate. Will be disputing further. Avoid dealing with this company.

Signing with Origin was a bad mistake. We do not have the internet most of the time, when we do the speed is pre-2000 dial up modems. The customer service is substandard. First you have to wait an hour to get through to them "first tier" ( that is the people who do not know what ping is). They lie most of the time saying the outage is nationwide for all ISPs and the open reach are working on it. That is to avoid paying a compensation. And so you are left with a paid upfront annual contract and no Internet. The only advice is to AVOID these people or loose your money.

I've only had it a couple of months, and apart from a small hiccup getting connected, I am very pleased, the speed is good considering the distance from the exchange and I've had no problems with reliability. Customer service was very helpful when there was a delay getting connected due to inter departmental mix ups. So far I would definitely recommend.

Been an Origin customer for a while now, charges are quite good and whilst there are no problems everything is OK. However, if you experience a problem trying to get it sorted is unbelievable. Recently my router packed up due to a power cut, trying to get hold of technical help is next to impossible. I literally spent 102 mins. on one call waiting to be answered. Subsequently I had to ring a couple more times with waits of a similar duration. During this time you have to listen to a loop of interminable music that is like being exposed to Chinese water torture. To be fair when you finally get to speak with someone they are patient and helpful. Trying to get some response from customer service is a waste of time as there doesn't appear to be any. When my contract is concluded I shall be looking for a different provider. Hope my router lasts until then.

Avoid this company,I used it and newer was happy with speed or quality of Internet.when called them to complain they just told restart router, what I done almost every week.
Than unexpectedly I needed to move house as I was tenant in property and landlord sold house,so not my choice to move, but now in new adress I won't this company to step in my house and would like to cancel contract and they asking me £250 for that what is total madness! I expected maybe up to £60. I called to complain and asked speak with manager as I expected that should be some exception in cases like that..but no customer service at all, they just focus on number to charge you!just focus on contract and this nu.ber is legal stealing in daytime!worst service in the world! The person what spoken with me Sarah Hubery totally not helpful, not kind.Total dissapointment and time waste on phone.I will definitely complain in Ofcom if they will not take that sum down.
Will not recommend this broadband anyone.avoid

So I pay £17.99 a month for 30 days of WiFi, but the router literally only works for like 5 days, I say work... I can’t even run one phone of this stupid ‘broadband’ if it’s even worth that name. It’s quite funny though. They never seem to be able to pick up the phone within 3 hours but damn they take that money with 2 minutes of the day it’s due (yes they literally took the money out at 00:02) robbing bastards, I never even consented to direct debit which makes matters 2x worse. Please, nobody use this excuse of a WiFi provider. I am also a college student, with a college that prefers me to work at home/if possible. Please everyone. DO NOT BUY.

signed up for the basic option two years ago, and it was fine as long as I didn't use more than 3 or 4 devices, but the problems started as soon as I upgraded to the next tariff up three-months ago. Since then it's been unusable, cuts out for hours on end, I've tried liaising with Origin, hopeless, and finally cancelled my direct debit after three-months. They acknowledge a problem but fail to do anything about it. Customer service is pathetic, and their online chats have delays of over 20 minutes between messages; hopeless. Good bye Origin, I hope we never meet again!!!

Utter rubbish. Slow speeds, drops out completely. They send a new box every two months or an engineer trying to blame the customer for their problems. They charge for this privilege! Never solves the problem. You cannot escape them, they will. It let you break the contract. STAY AWAY.

My account was taken over from SSE, had the paperwork saying my account was £23 as signed up for that and that price would stay the same until my contract ends. £69 has been taken via direct debit for 1 months rent, it's ridiculous.
I've emailed 2 complaints but no response, absolute rubbish company

Well... First of all please don’t trust all them happy reviews... they are obviously paid for.
    Here is the story:
Got signed with them over the phone. Steve, sale adviser, promised me minimum guaranteed speed of 17Mb/s... not bad for basic broadband deal... Upon checking my location he’s assure me that no fibre optic available to my area at all... So admit me sign up for basic broadband. When openreach engineer came to install the line he said that fibre optic IS available as there is fibre optic connection on the pole... After plugging in the rooter my internet speed showed 0.24Mb/s... FTF??? Rung them to check what’s wrong with my broadband and they replied “What do you want? You are on the lowest speed option and we can’t do anything with it..” Really??? Wanted to terminate the contract with them but there is the trick... YOU CANNOT TERMINATE CONTRACT AS SOON AS YOU GOES LIVE... Or pay for the full therm of the contract... Made a loads of phone calls to them and got official confirmation that they guaranteed speed not less than 0.5Mb/s... After they realise that they actually confirmed that minimum guaranteed speed is 0.5Mb/s they top it up to 0.5Mb/s... Parallel they try to push me to sign the “better deal” with them as “your speed defenatelly gonna get improved. I guess that this is the way they push customers to sign for more expensive packs.
The customer support staff is rude!!! Proper rude!!! They not willing to help you out... dropping the calls and threatening you that they going to put your number in to a blocked list if you keep ringing them...
Only advise... AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Internet was terrible was only 0.9 speed and constant drop in connection but since the update on their router it's much better (still only 1.8 speed) and drop in connection has stopped still I only paid 154 pound for the year upfront guess you get what you pay for

I have never Ben so frustrated and disappointed with a company in my life.
Do not under any circumstances use this company unless u want to be frustrated off line most of the time spend like I have a total of 12 hours so far on the phone only to be told there box is not a good one they do a better one but can’t send it without supervisors permission but they do two even better ones at a cost of approx £90 or £130 approx and I could pay for them xtra on two instalments if I wanted my contract started with them two weeks ago and still it’s not working each time I ring I wait for at least 10 to 15 mins just to be transferred where I wait so far for over 30 mins till I give up
So far to date I have made approx 15 calls to them to be told yes there is a problem (I know that ) I have now contacted resolvea who will try to sort it for me as I’ve been told if I change provider I will have to pay for the rest of my 2 year contract that has just started I have now given them 14 days notice I’m leaving surprise I’ve now been without any internet as no signal since I gave them the required 14 days notice
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THEM
