I have no issue with the broadband whatsoever. It's reliable and fast enough to stream tv and videos while still offering internet to everyone else in the house. I bought the upfront annual plan but there is now an issue with them trying to bill me for additional costs. I am certain it is an admin error on their part but I just cannot get through to their customer service team to sort it out. I've spent in excess of 5 hours trying to get through to them. It's very frustrating and makes you wonder what sort of employer they are (under resourced?).

It's a shame because it is so refreshing to have really good internet backed up by a UK based call centre.

I took a risk after reading all the reviews. In fairness I like this provider. Decent company, fair service. Nothing wrong so far. I’m happy.

    Completely disgusting company.

After 6 months of searching for a way to contact SSE about my broadband as they had advised they had only moved my utilities over to OVO and not mentioned anything about my broadband I was finally advised to contact OVO as they would now have any information as to where my contract was taken on by.

We discovered what I now see to be infamously awful with customer service and with handling a handover of someone’s contract.

With my utilities OVO had no problem continuing and crossing over my direct debit from SSE.

For some strange reason Origin are incapable of doing the same so they decided it would be acceptable not to bother informing me that it was them that had taken over the account so when I found on on September 11th after them holding my account for almost 6 months I called to see what was going on with my internet as I was now receiving next to nothing in terms of service for the last 3 weeks or so before finally finding out who was responsible.

I was then confronted with a 172 pound debt as of September 11th to which I stated I was not happy to pay as for the last 6 months I had received awful service that I now can hold Origin responsible for.

I later found out after they offered a resolution amount of £30 for 6 months of awful service. That the remaining 142 included the 22 days they had admitted to suspending my services for from august 20th up until the 11th of September when I called so I calculated the increased price (which they also failed to tell me about doing for the last 4 months of my contract) of 22 days out of 31 days at £24 pounds per calendar month worked out as £17 pounds (just over) so I asked for this to be added to my credit in addition to the 30 pounds which should have dropped the price to £125 pounds.

The first agent advised me there would be no further charges added to the account and that they would escalate this matter to manager who does have the authority to grant this extra credit to my debt that shouldn’t even have existed in the first place as they were the ones who cancelled the direct debit.

    Awaited a call for nearly a month….
Then to be told the good news is the £17 can be granted but we have also billed you for Octobers line rental despite them actively suspending my services. Which meant the £142 they had lowered the debt had actually now increased to £149 pounds.

So then the next complaint starts adding charges when someone has explicitly confirmed the charges would stop from now on as we had already expressed our desire to seize the account in their words and they had tried to claim upon listening back to our calls that no seize had been discussed if that was the case then how did I know without being informed about any T&C’s that they have 28 day period that it takes to fully “seize” the account.

    Excuse after excuse after excuse.

Received another callback from manager today that advised they would help to get this sorted and escalate it yet again to a new level of management that has the authority to remove this extra charge if they are willing.

Then another gentleman called me and was nothing but rude then after agreeing to seize the account advised that the original amount with Octobers bill would’ve now been £196 pounds with the 30 pounds taken off it would have been £166 instead of 142 but they were willing to take off a further £36 pounds however as they were unable to seize the account until Friday they would charge £5 for this period taking the amount to £135.

After how rude they have all been I understand they have come very near to our agreed resolution amount of £135 but again trying to charge for time where the services have been suspended due to debt that was no fault of my own.

The whole point of a direct debit is to not have to worry about remembering to pay your monthly bill and so when a company takes over your contract and cancels your DD without telling the customer then how are we to know? Not even my bank informed me so it seems rather suspicious.

Do not use this company for your broadband you will definitely regret it most awful company I have ever and probably ever will deal with.

The only positive I can add about Origin is that we received our router only 8 days later than we were meant to... I know people have waited a lot longer.
We pay £23 a month for what is meant to be up to 36mb broadband. However, we have never received anything over 6mb speed. We have contacted them on numerous occasions to which they say everything is fine with our network. Even though it is not even possible to watch Netflix without it buffering every 2 minutes.
Now they want to charge us the full term of the remaining contract to cancel it... even though we have never received anywhere near the speeds they promised us when taking out the broadband contract.
I seriously advise anyone looking for a broadband service provider to avoid Origin like the plague. I can only hope that a Trading Standards investigation comes down on them hard!

This is a company that does not tell truth. Will attempt any means to try to part you from cash. Had 2 year contract at £21 month they then tried to take £132 they said it was mistake but next month tried £164. Thankfully I reported attempted theft to my bank. Direct debit guarantee scheme ment bank refunded me. Then phone charges started appearing. My contract ends 15th march. I'm so glad to get rid of this terrible company

Worst broadband ever, speeds dropped from 20mbs to 4mbs after joining. Numerous call to resolve all without any joy and cost on average £4 in call fees each time. Left after 12 months of poor service only to have to phone 4 more more times as continue to take money from my account still wait for refund 3 months after leaving. Avoid at all cost

Exceptionally poor service. Ineffective at dealing with slow speeds (at 6-7mbps vs. advertised 38mbps every single day). At this point I have endured a month of brick wall responses. If you are thinking of dealing with this provider, move along as they are pathetically poor.

This company has done nothing but lie to me from the beginning, I was given an installation date of 18-1-2021 then it was changed, on the same day to 2-3-2021, I cancelled and was promised that no money would be taken from my account even though I cancelled on wed 6-1-2021 payment was taken on the 11-1-2021. Sky and virgin DO NOT take money before installing and still give you a 14 day cooling off period then bill you. This company are not to be trusted and by the feed back I've read not any good after installed. My advice is to avoid them like the plague

Quite literally the worst ISP i have ever had to deal with. I purchased 38mb fibre in April 2017. My average download speed for the first 3 months was 3mb. I left complaint after complaint with their support team, which usually took over an hour on hold and being passed between departments. 4 months into my term, my download speed was fixed, and the latency was broken! 180ms to get to google, so VOIP calls / gaming went straight out of the window. It took another 3 months for me to get through to someone who logged a fault with Open Reach. At this point i asked to cancel my contract, and i was told i would have to pay off my entire 18 month contract to do that. I left it until this week, where i asked if i could move my connection to my new house as my rent contract was up, and was told i would have to sign another 18 month contract or pay off my remaining months, with a £30 cancellation charge! Do not deal with this company.

Origin broadband are in a league of there own when it comes to total incompetence, was with them for 9 months of bad service and unbearably slow internet, moved to john lewis broardband in Sept ,but origin have re-installed my b/b (not my phone ) to talktalk , leaving me with no b/b at all, its going to take 2 weeks to migrate back to john lewis who are not happy about having a customer stolen from them, just unbelievable !

I have to tell you how disappointed and annoyed with Origin I am ,for an award winning company I can’t believe how bad the service has been and continues to be .
Decided to change from John Lewis ( no problems ever ) to Origin ( on price ) at the end of Nov 2016, received confirmation email telling me I was in the system, then nothing for weeks ,no communication at all, no router nothing , apart from a survey email asking for ratings , I phoned Origin 23rd Dec ( 1¼hours ) to find out what was happening, nice polite chap told me I was booked in for Jan 5th 2017 fine.
7.45am Jan 5th morning Open Reach engineer called me and said would call and fit line ? Already got good line, after he was finished, I was told that I would keep my existing phone number which was important to me as many of my business contacts phone me at home on this number.
I phoned Origin (1½ hours) that day to enquire about a router as I still had not received, a few days later still no router.
I noticed that I had not received any phone calls from anyone, so I phoned my land-line from my mobile, I couldn't get through because my number had changed without anyone telling me ! .
Phoned Origin ( 2¼hours ) Jan 7th to try to sort out, polite but ,no help, no router.
Thursday 12th two routers turn up in same post both set to old number, phoned Origin again ( 2 hours ) but did get working, no luck getting old number back, was told would get a call back from tech team , nothing, 13th Jan I phoned ( 2½ hours ) again still no luck getting number back ,14th Jan tried “live chat” on web site ( 1¾ hours ) was told ( politely) would get a call on Monday 16th from tech team ,still waiting for that.
So after all this stress I should be getting good broadband speeds ? No chance, download speed between 0.44 / 0.99 mbps / upload 0.30 – 0.34 ping 58.50- 64.50ms ( BT test ) wired to router in evening , which makes it very slow to use , used to get about 1.2 -1.5 so never very good, but just about useable, just can’t find the enthusiasm to phone again and waste a few more hours of my life on hold listening to Brain Blessed telling me they have had better days .
I can honestly say I wish I had not changed to this company, I also feel that I would be justified to cancel my contract without penalty and be reimbursed any monies already paid if these problems are not resolved in a reasonable time and manner ,starting with an apology .

If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!

Please do not use this company!!! Absolutely atrocious!

My partner had this company in his house for his broadband! He had around 6 months left in his contract when he moved in with me, when we transferred the broadband over to another address they tied us into a 24 month contract without telling us instead of continuing the original contract.
We spoke to them and they said its their policy.. it took them 2 and a half weeks to install the WiFi which took us out of the "cooling off period" when we realised what had happened we spoke to them in Dec 21 to which they said they would shorten the contract back to the original length (after multiple phone calls)

Then recently we got an email saying they are taking us to debt collectors as we have not paid the direct debt.
We rang up, and a lady told us that there was a "glitch" in THEIR system which resulted in them losing payment methods on lots of customers in JANUARY!!! Its now April.
We paid they money and they told us it will be on in 24hs
24hrs came and went, we rang again to be told that because we never paid it was already cancelled their end to go to the debt collectors. They said we had to open ANOTHER 24 MONTH contract with them and they wifi will take 14 days to come on still!! And back in Dec they never actually altered the time frame to the oringal contract they just made it to 18 months tying us in for and extra year!! Now they keep blaming us and taking no accountability in the glitch they had

We told them, they had cancelled the contract so we can just go somewhere else. They are now saying we either have to have a new contract with them. Or pay nearly £300 to pay off the old months in the account that they have cancelled

Avoid!!!! Please do not use this company been nothing but trouble and money scheming

Origin broadband !rubbish in a word I've been with these wellies for 9 months or there abouts when I got them last year first 2 days ok .then on the Thursday unable to access web ran origin got it sorted eventually, the download can be up to 9Mb the less than 2Mb twice this week I've spoken to tech dept nice people but that's not the issue first person I spoke to on Monday get me up and running after 80 minutes on phone 9 Mb for a short time then back to 2 Mb ,later on I rang again told to remove part of BT socket and use test port for 24'hrs on Tuesday afternoon I was getting 9Mb plus couldn't believe wow ,this morning ( Wednesday )! Back to less than 2 Mb I've sent e mails don't know how many all I know is this 2weeks time I go to vodapone see if they are better cant be worse an they? I've tried everything plug router directly into BT socket no difference had another router supplied ,when I first went with them I wrote and complained ,got a letter back from CEO telling me there top man was on the job and would contact me yeah!! The only person to have rang me was from billing dept telling me I would have my bill reduced yeah that did happen but that's all ,off the subject slightly I read reviews on this site and what concerns ME is origin are not THE worst there are others HOW can this BE ?if it was a main car dealership they would be named and shamed ,and another thing BLAME the isp providers blame BT who in turn blame the isp providers ,so I've had my 2 cents worth as our American cousins would say bye happy surfing from col

I like so many others wish I had not seen this company was with TALKTALK for nearly 5 years ,main reason for leaving them was if you had a complaint you ended up speaking up to some body in South Africa THE PHILLIPINE S OR INDIA CALLS Lasting 30 to 40 minutes other than than no probs ,like people have mentioned it was a small company not the big players and the are in Doncaster 85 mile away from .it started well enough on Monday 31 July got the router connected it up on the web in 5 minute great and it was till teatime on Wednesday I rang the office on Thursday and was told it was the exchange and somebody would call me back, and yes I was spoken to and given instructions how to configure the router which after several attempts failed
I rang the office spoke to sales who put me in touch with tech dept, while I,m waiting for them tried a different approach and yes I,m om the web the time I spent on the phone about 70 minutes never spoke to tech department ,it has been going well till to-day Saturday tried downloading pages painfully slow ,( well it s the weekend) so that will be the reasons it buggery I,ve used speed check on this site my speed is wait for it 0.7mbs wow can you feel the force ? there is a list of other supplier and some speed are well are supersonic this is absolute rubbish ,we have a saying in Britain ( out of the frying pan into the fire ) I think I,ve done just that, my opinion of ISP suppliers is that its a lottery depending on where you live and how much you are prepared to pay its not a bad price what I,m paying but price should,nt determine the quality of service ,the re are comments on this site ,people have said I wanted a small company to deal with not the SKY, VIRGIN,BT all the big players so I get a more friendly approach well I,m wondering if this is what I,ve saddled myself with no doubt there will be many pages devoted to this company shame really because the 2 girls/ladies sounded nice people so thats all folks happy surfing , to conifer router no joy tried several times rang them put through to sales ,then tech department while waiting for the finally got on used different set up to what they had

    AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Been with Origin for just over 2 months, only chose them because they were the cheapest at the time, big mistake. It's fair to say if you buy cheap you get cheap! Got through to the sales team fairly quickly (no surprise there!) but if you need to ring customer services or technical support expect to be on hold for over an hour and a half, (I even had time to make an entire chilli con carne and wash up before my call was answered!) Anyway my Internet cut out 8 days ago, and I've been on the phone virtually every night for hours on end trying to get it resolved. To be fair to them the staff are very friendly and try to be helpful but they are not trained to a high enough level to provide useful advice, so I've been passed from pillar to post only to be told there's nothing they can do to help me until they speak to an external company. I was promised they day my internet went down that I would be contacted within 24hrs but heard nothing so I've wasted several evenings waiting on the phone to them and the problem has still not been resolved!
So I am now effectively paying for a service that I don't have with no guarantee that I will get the money refunded to me, or at least not any time soon.
This company clearly do not have the man power or the training to provide an good level of service to its customers, something which it promises to do in the terms and conditions.
Avoid at all costs, don't be tempted by the low prices it's honestly not worth the chew!

I was on this site 12 days ago recounting my problems with this company I was prepared to overlook the aforementioned problems slow speed etc, with it being new maybe it needs to settle down ? not really sure what that means ? have things got better no.or worse no ,its still the same sent 2 emails last detailing problems etc.no replies .I am not alone it would seem reading this company reviews on this site I might try a different router ,could wire it ,could do lots of things but whatever I do its going to COST why are these companies allowed to provide us with shoddy service ? my opinion has been formed by reading accounts of lots of ISP providers some well known some not so well known it seems like a lottery getting a 5 star service ( if one exists) the speed checker device on this site I've used it several times speeds o 0.25 Mps (wow) ) I turn off router wait 5 minutes take test again 5.5 Mbs why ?anyway to-day Monday all is well ,still had no response to the aforementioned e mails will I ( will eckerslike )bye folks

I am STILL waiting for someone to contact me with an Openreach appointment for someone to install my new line. Customer service is non-existent. Hold time is ridiculous (over an hour) they do not respond to any Emails, tweets or complains at all. Taken £17.99 of my money and still providing nothing for me almost a month later. Stay well clear of this company, they're taking money and providing no service whatsoever. Will be reporting to Ofcom

Really unimpressed. Internet drops out regularly.

Customer services normally have a 40min queue

Expensive if you want to use anything but copper cable.

Stay away from these people if you can

Absolutely terrible connection drops constantly, origin tell me there's nothing wrong and if they send an engineer out and the fault lies with me (doubt it, I've never had trouble before)then they will charge me £108 or if I'm not in they will charge me same amount..I told them I'm not paying for a service I don't receive and cancelled my dd ...This is quite funny I suppose because they cut me off the next day and it took me over 6 hours to realise

KEEP AWAY. My ex wife who is disabled ordered this broadband, was supposed to be live on 21st Feb. 2017, she got the router but no phone line to the house so how can it work. I got involved and was told it was an Openreach problem. despite many calls and a lot of fobbing off she still has no internet. she has however had a customer satisfaction email, that she accessed from my house about their service asking if she was please with their service. it is now 19th march and she still has no service. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE or at your own risk be it. Cant say about speed as it still doesn't work

Was forced over to Origin from SEE after years of grood and reliable service this literally changed over night. As from the switch over date service slowed and became un relaible dropping out for a few hours every couple of days and eventually finally dropping out for whole days. The call customer service center is useless and I guess very under staffed and I would regually sit in a quese fo 30-40 minutes and move one or two places in that time. Whilst being insulted by the continous "your call is important to us". Three months in an I gave up. I called them and gave 30 days notice to terminate the serice and was provided a date. I am still being invoiced and charged six weeks after termination. They are part of the TalkTalk group so I shouldn't be supprised about any of this, shame they haven't changed in the last 10 years. Stear as far clear from this clowns as possible.

Been with these for years now, the last 72hws wow. I had my internet going off and no, contact them and they said it's all fine there end. And there is nothing then can do. They will not send anyone out to have a look, will not send a new box out. So they lost me... I'm off somewhere else. Don't go with them not worth your money....!!

Worst internet and take money out of bank on different dates before direct debit has been took out! Id definitely look for an alternative internet supplier as this one is awful in both customer service and signal.

I’ve been with Origin for 3 years now. I love the fact their call centre is in Doncaster and is manned by really nice people. What really lets the service down though is that to resolve issues, you need to hardwire link to the router. We’re all Apple at home and my work laptop can’t be hardwire linked. I’m not hugely IT literate so unless one of my teenagers is home, I’m stranded.

I really hope Origin get their act together because I will always support UK based and manned companies.

Once it was a very good broadband and customer service. I do not know what happened but now it is nightmare. Live chat is gone, they don't respond to emails, if you have problem you have to phone which is very expensive. I lost 25 pounds calling them and got nothing done. On September 26, I lost my internet connection and I still have no signal. Instead of fixing the problem they sent me a new bill! Stay away from them!

Over 3 weeks and still no internet, customer service is a nightmare. They've "lost" replies to emails, different members of staff told me conflicting things. Supposed to get a text and email confirmation of a date after being on the phone which never happened. Going to cancel with them as it is beyond a joke now.

AVOID AVOID AVOID ORIGIN at all costs! Try to leave and your stuffed. Will send you a massive bill so cancel any direct debit before you ring them. Charge £40 for the router unless sent back... no other provider does this. They disconnect you from your account portal as soon as you inform them you are changing providers so you're unable to access it to check your bill or personal info. Give you duff information to get you off the phone and make the rules up as they go saying 'someone has just informed me that ...'
Ask for Oliver Brysou and they dont know their own Managing Director! Then say he's not available. You can hear the smugness in their voices as they know they have your bank details and credit card number so will try and get your money anyway they can. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE FRAUD SQUAD YET BUT HOPEFULLY SOON. DOM JOLLY SHOULD BE ON THE CASE.

I was sold a broadband package, they never installed it, refused to cancel the agreement, and have ignored my letters of complaint. I ended up just cancelling the DD, maybe now theyll get in touch. It turns out Fibre optic isnt even available in my area, and they still sold me the package...

Well where do I start! Moved to Origin broadband at the end of a 2 year contract with BT on a very stable fibre connection... Why! well the prices of Origin £25.99 a month seems great! but its for nothing! Activation date was the biggest mess! I was ready to move and the day before the router did not arrive, contacted origin and they confirmed they had not ordered it so on switch day i was without internet and ever since then my normal fibre connection that was around 30mbps stable is now around 0.76mbps! yeah not even 1mbps!... ive been in contact with origin and they dont really respond to emails the facebook team is where you will get a response but they need to escalate to the technical team who haven't got back to me yet.. this is all within the first 2 months so far and I havent had a day where the connection has been stable like it was for the full solid 2 years with BT! I have started the process in switching back to BT... I wont be paying them a penny more! Complete and utter joke of a company!

I've had origin broadband for about 4 months now. My initial experience was terrible and I had no broadband for over a month, this was partly the fault of BT (openreach) and partly the fault of origin. They clearly need better training of staff to deal with faults and a lot more people to answer calls. In my view a lot of the issues are to do with the routers they send out, they sent me two, neither worked, I ended up using my old one from my previous ISP. This worked but as others have pointed out the line kept dropping. I eventually got a working router from origin and this did improve things and I have had no line drops now. I actually changed the settings in the router to protorise stability of the line over performance. My origin line is on the Vodafone network and I suspect the issues others are having with line drops are related to Miss configured routers (Vodafone use different default settings to most ISPs). If you are experiencing line drops I would advise you to phone origin and check your router settings. I would also advise origin to fix the issues they are having with routers being sent out dead and invest in a proper router with fixed firmware and roll out updates and fixes remotely like all other ISPs. It's a shame and they seems to have a lot of trouble getting people connected but once you are connected and correctly set up it seems fine. The price is great if you just want basic adsl, I would be happy to pay an extra £1 a month to fix the issues I have had. They are still cheaper then the standard rate of all other ISPs and I hate switching it's too much hassle.
