Ironically trying to write this review but struggling due to the speed of Sky broadband. Would never recommend this provider to anyone!! The speed is awful, service shoddy, reliability terrible! I find the diagnosic page infuriating whenever the connection is down. Then there is the two hour wait to speak to an actual human being, how then just tells you to try turning it on and off again! Rubbish! I recommend spending a few extra pound a month to actually be able to access the Internet

I applied for Sky when I moved into my new place. With the excitement of having a big company as a Broadband provider.
When transferring the line over they found a fault and told me an engineer would have to come the next day when I was working the next day. I called up Plusnet to see if there was a fault on the line and was told there was no fault (This was lie 1).
So I cancelled my contract before I could be mugged off by this company they said I would have a FULL refund in 3-5 working days. After this time I recieved no money back from them and told them I would get the money back my October and there is no chance of doing this earlier. I did tell them I was promised I would get it back within a couple of days. (This was lie 2), in the embarrassment they said they would try and do it within two weeks.
Two weeks came. I called them up and they said it will come by the 17th September but apparently as I owe them a bill payment in advanced and bearing in mind I have not used their Broadband service one bit I would be only entitled to the £6 which is an insult (lie 3).
To add insult to injury I have spent a lot of money using my 4G network on my phone. I have to check my emails from work on my phone. I told Sky this and the agent said I was only entitled to use Sky for personal use when its up to me what I do with my broadband. I told this agent that I would take them to court if I do not get the money back and he did not seem to care or take the matter further. In fact I asked to speak to a manager and he told me I would have to wait 24 hours before I could speak to one when I have spoke to managers from Sky straight away previously (lie 4).
AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. LIE, AFTER LIE, AFTER LIE JUST TO MAKE MONEY.

If I could give less stars I would. Entirely unhappy with sky as a provider! Misinformation when calling specifically to outline length of payment, only to be charged £52.20 in excess, when tried to resolve this, was hung up on, passed around departments and employees only to reach a dead end after 90 minute conversations in total (including both times I called after being hung up on). DO NOT JOIN SKY. Pulling out of all contracts with them; this cancelled broadband and line rental along with the family broadband, line rental and sky box (which we have had for years).

After reading some of the reviews,I thought it only right to post a positive review of my time with Sky.I have been with them for a little under a year and to be honest there where a couple of problems to start with but not due to sky in my case BT connected me to a companies phone line so i ended up chasing the company to ask why i was getting their customers calling me and they told me they did not even know the line was not working but had not had any calls for days from their customers. After that was sorted i ended up with a slower internet speed due to being signed up to the wrong type of Broadband by the site i took out the deal with, idiots but once i got in touch with sky they sorted it in under 3 days,And i got 2 months worth of extra free phone calls as compensation which was nice of them as my wife likes to call her family a lot. After about 6 months the line began to drop but Sky fixed it the same day with a new plug socket and rewired the spare socket as well with a built in filter and my speed is above the average for my area which is around 8MBs i get 42MBs which is damn good i can download a 3 GB game in under 10 mins or download an Music album in around 5 to 7 mins,Even though i had a few problems Sky has been pretty good on the whole. How ever i do intend to move on as they are not good at being info friendly and unless you are tech savvy they will try it on.For the most part i would check before you sign up with any ISP if they do actually provide the service they state as in some cases you can get better service from a less well known company,I would give Sky in my case a 7 out of 10 for at least trying to provide a good level of service and connection time,But a less friendly 4 out of 10 for customer service over the phone as the call center, like most others is in India

Had.nothing but trouble since sky bought 02 broadband. Totally unreliable. Poor speeds despite being on fibre optic. So fed up with sky that I am going to virgin media for it instead as they already do my tv. If sky dare to tell me that I'm in a contract with them, I will point out that they broke the contract with non existent service

So bad we couldn't even open an account with them due to their website not working properly! Wanted the free £100 prepaid mastercard offer from them so went online, put details in then message appeared saying unfortunately they couldn't get any installation dates please call our sales advisors (wtf!!!) so we phoned them they said they could open an account over phone but that the £100 offer was online only. I said I'm not being conned into doing it over ohone and losing the offer so tried again online, but on laptop. Same error message again, so went on live chat, they said to try different browser such as google chrome, spent time downloading it then entered details AGAIN. Guess what, same message. Contacted different live chat operator, told tgem situation, they said to try firefox. Downloaded it, tried again, wasted more time putting details in again. Same crappy message.
I can only guess that either their website is rubbish and their staff are clueless, OR they are steering people away from an offer they don't want to honour, by getting people to sign up over the phone.
If they're this bad BEFORE you sign up, how bad are they AFTER opening an account with them???

Living near the exchange one would expect the broadband speed to be good, the fastest broadband speed we get is way below the national average and ranges from 1.7 to 2.3 mb

Its difficult to now where to start. I have a hearing disability to around 70% loss (I lost my hearing when I was three) so I don't do phone that well. When I originally joined Sky I was promised face to face at one of there sales hubs and promised they would help translate with there tech services an tech problems I had. Once I signed I was told not to contact any face to face Sky personal and ring instead. This causes me no end of problems as I don't do phones. 2 years ago I had a buzzing on my phone which was not sorted because it seems they don't like a loud deaf person on the phone.
This week my broadband kept dropping off and now it seems I have annoyed customer services again by being unproductive when I call and they will only do troubleshooting via email now. 5 hours and over 30 emails and they could not even sort out which type of phone socket I have and they call me unproductive in my conversations. Now they want to send out an engineer to tell them the type of phone socket I have. Sky has informed me that there will be no verbal by phone conversation as the calls were unproductive. What do they expect when they insist I speak on the phone. I have gone through 10 troubleshooting scenarios each one the same and nothing happens. Even if I did not have a hearing disability I would still say avoid this company like the plague.
Why do top end telecommunication companies feel the need to supply abysmal, pathetic and abusive customer services. I wonder why Ofcom alow this situation to go on.

my experience with sky was outrageous and disappointing ..my first issue with sky was that my home telephone was down for 2 months and I reported 3 times and they resolved the issue but they charged me for the service which I did not receive. I will definitely cancel the contract as soon as possible!

Sky broadband is utter crap. It can't run videos on YouTube even on 480p with constant buffering. Even though I'm side by side with the router. It can't run multiple connections at once meaning those in my house need to ask for others to go off to do something online. But alas. Im not in charge of internet and thus. Have no power as to changing to any other provider.

Utterly appalling. Customer service is awful. No internet connection and nobody at Sky seems to be willing to help. Operators are rude and when you do get put through to somebody they cut you off when they answer. Absolute joke of a company.

Well I've been with Sky Broadband for about 10 years and the only reason I'm here today is because I'm thinking of switching to Fibre Internet. I've looked at the reviews of several ISPs and they are all absolutely apalling. Out of curiousity I thought I'd look at Sky reviews.
I am genuinely shocked as the high number of bad and frankly terrible reviews.
Over the years there have been a few occasions to contact sky broadband customer service, one where my internet connection kept dropping out, and eventually an engineer was sent to test the router which had failed. Sky promptly sent a new one and the problem was resolved. Another time a few years later, I had a similar problem, again an engineer was sent who diagnosed a line problem under my driveway. It took a few days for BT to install a new line, but after that the problem was cured. I have to say that I have always found their UK based technical support excellent, helpful and patient as various diagnostic procedures were carried out to decide on a course of action. I just wish that as many satisfied customers would post reviews, as disgruntled ones so that a fair balance is maintained. It is unfortunate that BT openreach are often the middle man involved in Internet work, and it is a matter of public record how bad they are. No matter which ISP you are with, make sure you review them, not openreach.

The service was good for 1 year. The problem started when we moved the house. The speed of broadband not as I expected, it disconnects roughly every few minutes. The broadband is very slow I can't even watch videos online properly. After calling sky for last 2 months they repeatedly tell me to take my own phone socket to pieces but have not offered other help or visit. Customer service is very bad and unprofessional. They promise for call back/engineer visit but nothing happens. Finally I have given up and decided to move on with another provider.

Their staff has no knowledge and they like to blame everything on open reach or BT. We have moved our house its been more than a month they are telling us everyday that you internet will start within 24 house. Shameful service. PLEASE NEVER EVER GO FOR THIS SUPPLIER , I BEG YOU , YOU WILL GET STUCKED WITH BAD SERVICE AND PAYING CRAZY MONY FOR NOTHING.

After moving house 5 weeks ago and being promised everything under the sun by sky... every single promise has fell through! They blamed the phone line, so they scheduled an engineer (2 weeks waiting) that date came and went of course it was BT fault not sky's finally engineer showed up to 2 days later!!!! Ordered my broadband and now that activation date has also came and went again still no broadband! Phoned and again they have no idea why and I will have to wait a 24hrs until BT openreach let them know what's going on! Sorry but admitting you have no idea and blaming everyone else for your really bad customer service and poor knowledge is ridiculous. Avoid like the plague! 5 weeks of nothing but excuses, lies and being told to wait... wonder if sky would WAIT for their payments?!

Moved house, was promised a minimum of 12, and potentially 20 from a standard phone line (no Sky fibre available here). Instead I get maybe 4 down, and it disconnects roughly every twenty minutes. I'm using an Xbox one, that has a wired connection to the router to measure this speed. It's absolutely awful, and I have scheduled BT fibre to be installed.

Although it had its ups and downs, generally pleased with sky broadband.
It would cut out every now and then (NOWHERE NEAR AS OFTEN AS BT DOES, THE PIECE OF TRASH..) but it liked to cut out a few times a month.
Speed was pretty much as advertised, and it didn't drop to 0.001mb like BT broadband does.
Would reccomend Sky broadband

What can be worst that that.
Poorest broadband seen ever.
Mobile phone internet speed is 10 times better that sky broadband.
Internet speed is 1/5 than committed.
Desperately waiting to finish this contract and will never dare to join sky again ;)

WORST INTERNET PROVIDER PERIOD.
Customer service was atrocious. After waiting weeks to get their service hooked up the engineers did it wrong and instead of coming straight out to fix it, they make us wait another full week just to fix their original mistake AND they require you to take a day off work every time one of their (incompetent!) service workers come. Worst customer service experience I have ever had and their internet is total bollacks.

Just ranting,SKY will never, ever change, they are tooo big and fat and lazy and rich. After the usual complaining about download speeds of less than 300kb/s I was told that the BT line is to blame and that they can do nothing. When I said I would pack them in and move to another fibre ISP I was quoted the terms and conditions of my contract and the penalty for early cancellation. What a cheek.

If your sky internet is connected well in your area, you are very lucky. My connection drops and connects throughout the day (5 minutes connected followed by 2 minutes dropped)!. It is not fair for customers to pay for the very unstable internet. Even explain my situation to customer service, they cannot do anything to solve this basic problem. Really disappointed.

Probably one of the worst companies to have a broadband with.
From the get go of opening an account with Sky we were delayed to having no bradband for two weeks due to carelesness and misorganisation by the curstomer service.
For the past 8 month the internet was reasonaly slow, even with a booster to allow for every room.
Upon the cancellation of the account, only 2 months later was paid back for the overpaid broadband service that was already cancelled.
Every time I spoke to the CS concultants, it felt like they didnt know what they were doing. Would not recomnend.
