I think Sky is the worst provider ever. They have not fixed my broadband problem. They send engineers who do not know how to fix things. They dont communicate to the engineers beforehand what kind of problem the client has. You have to wait ages to talk to an agent on the phone. What a horrible service!!!!

Download speed - 0.80 Mbps, Upload speed - 0.65 Mbps, and it's like that almost everyday, it's even hard to check my email, and there is just impossible to watch a YouTube video.
It's that some kind of joke?
I was using a lot cheaper internet services in Poland, Netherlands and in Iceland, and I was never before have any problems.
I live in Glasgow now, I was choose Sky... that was a big mistake, it's hard to believe that UK have so slow broadband, it's shocking and sad :(

We have been with sky since we moved into the house. However, it has never been reliable and during the speed test I have just carried out the max speed recorded was less than 1Mb/sec. Customer service is at best poor, an example being in sept we were left without broadband for a week without an explanation.

This review is based on the 2 or 3years with Sky since it took over BE. Not being technically minded I had not tested for speed until towards end of last year when I found I was getting the abysmal download speed of 0.9Mbps as opposed to the minimum 7Mbps promised in their contract. Complaining to Sky, they put me through 3 rounds of "home testing" before referring to BT openreach - another 3 visits. After the final one, the improvement was marginal. BT engineer then raised the possibility Sky was capping my speed. We tried to get through to Sky - continuously engaged - no surprise there. BT advised me to wait a week to see if any improvement from its line repairs. There wasn't. I then rang Sky and passed on the engineer's comments about capping. I don't have a recording of the call but the Sky operative said he would check. Miraculously there was an improvement next day. Which suggests to me capping was the issue. Sky has continued to claim it was line noise. I don't believe them. (Previously when I called Sky they refused to put me through to a supervisor on grounds they would tell me no different. So much for service.) I complained to the comms ombudsman - don't waste your time. You don't get to see what they base a decision on, in this case it seemed to be taking Sky's word at face value. It claimed the matter was resolved without any action being necessary by Sky - which showed it did not even read the papers properly since problems remained for a week after BT finished before I raised the capping issue. Sky refused point blank to assist me in getting repair records from Openreach despite my understanding only the Broadband provider can do this (not members of the public). Nothing to do with the ombudsman complaint of course. But then neither would the ombudsman give a ruling as to who was entitled to approach Openreach - prejudiced towards Sky by default. So Sky breached its contract on speed for 2 or 3 years, tried to blame the problem on BT, did not read or answer letters properly, on the phone would not pass me to a manager, forcing me to go through the Ombudsman process ( a total waste of time - probably prejudiced towards providers on my experience) and then it turned out that all along the problem may have been to do with its own capping of speed. That's not something they publicise with their special offers. Although after this saga the speed has now improved, I wonder how long for? I am looking for a provider from which I can rely on a decent service, not hiding potential limitations like capping speed, with decent customer service when problems arise (their phone and on-line chat lines are continually engaged). Draw your own conclusions. If you are getting a decent service now, you better hope no problems arise. Avoid if you are looking for a new provider. Also don't waste your time with the Ombudsman - they take for ever, can't read papers properly, do not provide evidence from the other side. The basis of their decisions is hidden.
Their decisions are not reviewable i.e. they are beyond criticism - hence no doubt the poor quality of their staff. I wonder who pays for them?

Sky are an absolute disgrace from the router they give you which has a range of about 3 meters to thesis fibre speed of a snail and that's being unfair to snails the speed regularly drops to Kbps and if you ring them it looks great for the money I've paid I feel completely ripped off

We called Sky last Saturday morning because our wifi couldn't work and they said that their engineer would come either Monday or Tuesday to fix our wifi. Amazingly, immediately after that the engineer came before afternoon and we have our wifi live before waiting for Monday or Tuesday! So efficient!

Where do I begin with the problems I have had with Sky's Broadband.
Firstly, I'll mention that my house has a direct line of site (150 yards away) to one of sky's hubs (I believe this is what it is I'm not a network expert) but this info was given to me by one of Sky's Engineers. So I find it hard to believe that despite the fact that we pay so much for 72 mb/s DL I struggle to reach 1.5 mb/s. This is completely unacceptable. This is not an irregular occurrence. For the entirety of today I have been running SpeedTests Using speedtest.net on my laptop and have gotten a Download speed above 1 mb/s 1 time out of well over a hundred tests. I did not try to ring the customer service because, in the past when I have, I have been told they will only speak to the account holder. Which happens to be my mother, someone who knows next to nothing above technology and when ever she has tried to talk with the support, they have confused her with technical jargon she simply does not understand.
In Summary, I could not be more disappointed and appalled with Sky's broadband and the way they treat customers who have been with them for years.

Severely disappointed with the reliability and speed. Most of the time I'm getting about 15Mbits/s, with advertised 40Mbits. Very often the speed drops to around 1-5Mbits. The help and support pages are really poor, just guiding through very basics. For example, when choosing an option that my speed is slow they still suggest to check that HUB is on and connected. Of course it is! Without that it wouldn't be slow, it wouldn't work! And no way to contact then via web form, always redirecting to phone (sorry, I just don't enjoy speaking for 2 hours and repeating the same things over and over). Get it together Sky! It's not even a cheap service, not at all!

Very disappointing experience with Sky Broadband, took them two weeks to move our broadband into the new location. In the end they said it would be quicker to close our account and set up a new one, which we did only to be told we can no longer have the promised deal.

Absolutely dreadful - worse since we changed to Sky W. can you believe their 'new' router only has 2 ports? It is also designed to only accept their products when acting as a bridge! (Think I've got that right?) I had to have 2 poor guys spending 2 mornings trying to connect to it until this was discovered. A sheer disgrace. Our speed us awful, but, worst if all, it drops out constantly ad I can't get a connection 2 rooms away from the router! Not fit for the modern world. Go to another provider. I found this site whilst looking fir a more appropriate one.

After the hell with BT, waiting 3 months for them to fix my broadband I'd had enough. So cancelled with them. I signed up to sky broadband, they have very friendly and helpful staff. I was kept informed of activation date, and my broadband was activated on that day. So easy, after all the trouble I experienced with BT. I would definitely recommended sky broadband.

As i sit here writing a review on my phones Internet as it is more reliable than my sky 23mbps broadband i am confused. My date of installation went as planned and my broadband 10 days later but still havent got a reliable connection many of my evenings plans have ended in me cursing the sky (company). It has been 3 weeks now and still nobody seems to know or care about. Virgin must be loving it who has their number lolz. Also the 'engineer' decided where the phone line was going and installed it like a 5yr old. A massive waste of time. TURN BACK AND AVOID ALL THE STRESS

Very very poor broadband. Came to sky as no Virgin in this building (and yet available across the street)! Initially ok, slow compared to what I was used to (from 50 mbps to 4). Then no internet, dropped connection for hours or days. Can't even watch a half hour show without it dropping. Hours and hours spent with customer services. Credit to them they did their very best but they never got to the bottom of the problem. So glad to be moving back to Virgin territory.

Very intermittent service, and several outages (including one lasting weeks) lead me to give sky zero stars.

Their customer service is appalling, sometimes with wait times in excess of 30 mins. This makes it very difficult to notify them of problems, which works in their favour as they then refuse to credit the account beyond the date they log the call. Having spoken to several customer service operatives, every time they are incredibly slow because their systems take forever to refresh. Don't trust an ISP whose own systems don't work properly!

Very poor service from a very poor provider.

Overall the service was meh, ok, nothing special but beige.

The I had to contact Sky 'customer services'. . . How to take a bad situation and make it worse.

Here's your top 10 for how not to deal with a complaint.

Start off by having the customer have to call repeatedly and spend 30+ minutes on hold.

Then finally when they do get through.

    1. Do not have the facts at your disposal,
    2. Read from a script which does not address the facts,
    3. Fail to respond to a pre-action protocol letter,

Well now I've issued proceedings against Sky (£25 via Money Claim online I'll get to talk to a 'grown up').

PS when you get sent the un-served claim form and particulars of claim,

    1. .Don't send a letter addressed 'Hello Thomas' at least try Dear Mr O'R or Dear Sir.

    2. Don't advise me about Ombudsmans Services Communications as if this is similar to an Ombudsman's scheme like the Legal or Financial Services Ombudsman etc. It is a company limited by guarantee which charges the company's who subscribe a fee for their services and as at their last filed accounts has a reserve of £1.8M.

Now I'm not suggesting the company are not independent or biased but the presentation of the Company without reference to their Ltd statement is, in my view poor.

Further the use of the definitive article in the statement 'It is for the Ombudsman Services Communications to decide if they can investigate' is potentially misleading as there likely to be other ADR providers and as such Sky should use the indefinite article and also there is Offcom, a body with statutory powers.

Now I must get a life before the wife comes down and tells me to grow up and wait for the AoS / Defence & etc.

PS Sky, if you're reading the claim reference is C7Qz4P4M in the CCBC, date of service today.

We just lost broadband on Wednesday 19.10.16. It took 5 calls to sky services to get help. Friday, the engineer came and checked the line-all OK. he will file report and we can call for new router . Sky services will charge us £70 plus £20 delivery charge becouse contract expired and we are not insured, but if we extend contract, router for free.
Conspiracy theory - have they deliberately disconnected broadband to get us into extension of contract
Why do I think this way, well, tv and phone are still working properly. What a mess, just when I need broadband the mousy.

Mysteriously over the past year our typical speeds as per speedtest.net have fell from 17Mbps DL 1.6Mbps UL to 8Mbps DL 0.6 Mbps UL. Of course Sky say everything looks normal from their end. It's almost enough to make you consider upgrading to the fibre service they've been advertising heavily for the past year or so...

Seriously, if you're looking for an ISP, dismiss these crooks from the outset.

We had sky broad for over 6 years + at the starting it's was amazing but afterwards it went down hill. My work revolves round being online and I use to walk around the house to find were I can get the best connection and I use to normal take 2-3 hours finishing certain things. And times I had to drive to the nearest costa or mcd just to get Internet. I have switched to BT now it's been three weeks and wow I have got my life back. Before we're it use to cut and crash now I get the same work done in less then an hour. I didn't change ovet earlier cause i didn't want to go through the headake of change but thank god I did.

    Never get Sky Broadband ever.

I've had it twice in my life in 2 separate locations and both been horrible. I'm sure I was promised at least 17mb download but don't even get 1mb.
    At least it's reliably bad.

    UP YOUR GAME SKY.
Getting Virgin when I move. Great experiences with them.

We have fibre broadband with Sky at 1Mb they do not know why and do not want to do anything else to fix it. My advise go to anyone else.
