My Average download speed is less that 1mb/s (not 20-30mb/s as advertised) and subsequently I will die of starvation whilst waiting the proposed 64 hours for a 50gb installation on my console which by the way is a very average size download for a console. Origin broadband isn't far the most ridiculous excuse of an internet service provider within the entire universe.

Saw ORIGIN plugged on Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert site so figured it must have been researched first so in blind faith I took out a contract. BIG MISTAKE. This company should be closed down and featured on RIP OFF BRITAIN for reasons too numerous to mention. Cant wait for the contract to end as no matter how many times you ring customer services they DO NOT carry out their promises to resolve your queries. Come on Ofcom please investigate!!!

Absolute joke from start to...well now. In the 6 months or so since I moved my 77 year old mum across to Origin every single thing has been an issue, I won't list them, as I really mean every single thing. Do not use this company!

Terrible, support doesn't exist as far as I can tell. They heavily throttle Netflix to the point where it is unwatchable. Worst ISP I have ever had.

"Up to 38Mbps" averages 2.5Mbps for us. Not "great for streaming TV and video" as advertised - not even okay for streaming TV and video. Dishonest promotional material.

By far the worst company I've ever dealt with! I agreed to the £16.99 broadband per month to later find sums from £40-80 had left my account to no explanation as to why. My service was poor I complained and conveniently my complaints were lost and I had to re-explain on a number of occasions to despair. This went on from May till Novemebr they eventually agreed to refund my full payments only to find they again took the money out of my account! Months of grief and no explanation I've never been so frustrated. Even the staff bad talk the firm how they continue to run is beyond me.
Believe me when I say AVOID

Just been off the phone with them trying to cancel my service because I've had such a bad experience and was told I would have to pay for the rest of my contract and there was no way around it.
Don't sign up.
Don't try to call (you usually won't get through.
Company is too small to handle so many customers.

Took out annual saver! But they split the internet and phone up from starting at same time. While trying to cancel services they kept cutting the phone off! Said they cant start to cancel until 13 month on a 12 month contract!!?? Disgusting company!! Poor customer services!!

I changed from TalkTalk and wish I had not.
Origin has got to be the poorest excuse of a company.
Customer service is diabolical and if you have Origin I would closely scrutinise your bill including call charges.

I took a risk after reading all the reviews. In fairness I like this provider. Decent company, fair service. Nothing wrong so far. I’m happy.

Worst company i ever dealt with. There customer service is non existent. They took my money straight away. No correspondence to tell me when we would go live. I called every day they promised a call back never happened. They blamed open reach. After 4 weeks and no date given i gave up and cancelled to which they said i get a refund in 14 working days so a month no doubt ill have to chase that. Every time you call it takes them 45 min to answer. So this company is a sham of a mockery. Do not go near them.

It just goes from bad to worse with this pathetic excuse for a company. I had lots of problems to start with but now i'm about ten months into my year contract they have decided to start charging me for line rental, even though I paid a year in advance for line rental and calls. I did email their non existant customer services and got no reply. I eventually managed to speak to someone who said they would sort it out and I'm still waiting. Cant wait till my contract ends so I can go with another provider. Any provider no matter how bad will not be as bad as Origin. You have been warned!

Wish I had read these reviews before joining this joke of an ISP called Origin. Signed up in first week of October 1.I then received an email 2 days later to advise there had been a technical delay. 2. We are heading into the 4th week and I've received not a single correspondence from them. 3. Router was supposed to have been sent a few days before my go live date of the 24th October they never sent a router. 4. Rang up 4 different times with average 20mins call wait time chasing this. 5. Each time I was given conflicting information. 6. Was told they had a back log in sending routers hence the reason they hadn't sent it.7. Bearing in mind internet has apparently gone live but I can't use it bcos no equipment. 8. Finally lost my patience and called to make a formal complaint about poor service. 9. Staff didn't seem to know their own complaints processes and I had to speak to manager after almost 40mins on the phone. 10. Finally get a text message this evening from parcelforce about the router being dispatched. 11. In text message Origin had given them the wrong delivery address for me. At this point I've just lost the will. PLEASE AVOID ORIGIN AT ALL COST. TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY.AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.

Origin broadband are in a league of there own when it comes to total incompetence, was with them for 9 months of bad service and unbearably slow internet, moved to john lewis broardband in Sept ,but origin have re-installed my b/b (not my phone ) to talktalk , leaving me with no b/b at all, its going to take 2 weeks to migrate back to john lewis who are not happy about having a customer stolen from them, just unbelievable !

Decent broadband service so far (after 3 months). I get the impression however they are very understaffed. Only had to phone on one occasion for an issue and took around 10 minutes to get help. The person who was helping was very good/helpful but ultimately unable to resolve the issue. Further technical help meant waiting an hour on the phone listening to music and still no answer so eventually gave up.
They also keep sending me monthly bills via email despite the fact that I paid the entire year in advance. When I called to inform of the error (about a 15 minute wait for an answer) was told it was a known issue and they were trying to resolve it. Same thing keeps happening however as I keep recieving bills each month.

This is a good example of "you only get what you pay for".
For basic standard broadband/calls:
Speed: Half that I got from Plusnet
Customer Service: Seems to be Non-existent!
I cannot recommend this ISP and will be leaving a.s.a.p.

I just wanted to balance some of the negative reviews - I've had no problems with Origin ADSL and get consistent download speed of 11 Mbps which I think is quite reasonable. Upload speed is poor at 0.75 Mbps but it's good enough for my needs. On the whole I'm very satisfied.

Been with numerous ISPs since the 1990s, and I'm pretty clued up on internet/tech matters.
I moved to Origin in 2015 from O2 after sky bought them up,(Who wants to give money to murdoch?), and I do prefer to put my lot in with smaller independent ISPs, as so many have been gobbled up ofer the years.
For my first 2 year 78Mbps contract I had almost perfect service, top speed of 63Mbps which appears to be line limit, and which they informed me of before I joined, so was well happy with it.
Then at the end of June this year I renewed but with this time a 38Mb package, and unfortunately took up their "super saver" offer of paying upfront for the 2 years at a big saving. Shortly afterwards they moved from plusnet network to Talk talk, and as a LOT of people have since discovered the service has since plummetted.
The pattern of service for me is 36-38Mbps during most of the day, but every evening usually between 6-7pm to gone 11pm now suffer 5-6mbps and ping had rocketed from previous 30ms upto +110ms, so streaming and online gaming are now crippled.
They continued taking monthly payments from my account even though I'd paid upfront, although when I phoned to complain they did refund the money reasonably quickly so I cant complain too much, but it was only after I pulled them up about it.
Tech support used to be excellent on the odd occasion I had minor niggles in the past, but recently it feels that the company is struggling in all departments with poor or no tech support/ customer service response.
I REALLY want to support them, and up until the last couple of months would have had no problem recommending them, but it does feel as if their backs are now against the wall.
Origin, please get away from talk talk network...If I'd wanted that I would have paid them for it, they're currently £1 a month cheaper for their 38Mb package, but they are a poor company, if you cant get back to how you were you've lost me as faithful customer.

Utter rubbish from the day I signed up. What should have been a 10 day broadband switch ended up being 4 weeks. Ultimately paid a month up front for no service.
Modem didn't arrive for the 1st week.
Since June I've had intermittent connection with speeds of no more than 20mbps rather than the 79 I'm paying for.
Umpteen calls to the tech team have resulted in hours waiting on hold and no contact.
Emails and calls of complaint have been ignored and I've waited 3 days for a BT engineer to check my line. Was told there was no fault found so back to square one!
I've now been sent a replacement router that doesn't work as it's conflicting with the new hardware. Once again I've been on hold for the tech team for over 2 hours......

Incredibly poor service. The internet speed is so poor i can barely open emails at times and it is constantly dropping out. Customer service and support is none existent. I’ve spent the best part of 3 hrs trying to get through to someone today. Do yourself a favour and avoid, if you do go with them I guarantee you will regret it. I will not be going back.

The worst broadband supplier in all my over 15 years of using broadband. They have the worst customer service and technical support I have ever had to endure. I will be moving off their service (and I use that word in the loosest sense) as soon as I possibly can.

Experienced all of the problems others have mentioned; minimum 30 mins on hold to customer services (usually more like an hour!), slow speed, dropped connection often, etc.
The worst thing for me is that they have basically 'bullied' my 80 year old Dad over the phone!! They've lied to him, confused him and taken him for a fool.
Put simply, they have ripped him off, got a lot of money upfront and then failed to deliver. They are by far the worst company/service I have ever come across.

We moved to Origin from Sky, what a mistake we made. Everything about this company is wrong. From day one we had issues with the broadband speeds after being promised more than Sky were providing. Trying to get in touch with customer service is a joke, a sick one at that, once through to them they aren't very helpful at all and leave you wanting to smash your head against a wall. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use this company unless you want poor service throughout, expensive phone calls, hours complaining to customer service and make to yourself ill.

It is shocking how disgraceful and rubbish this broadband is. My previous broadband had just gone into administration and it was for tradition broadband. So I decided to go for fibre glass as it was now available. I wanted the £24.99 deal but was hard sold into their more expensive plan.
In exception of the installation being free and on time, it has been a disgrace. The broadband is unstable and it doesn't feel any faster than the 17.5mb, oh and this is mean to be the 80mb speed, i would expect a difference since we have gaming PCs.
It's unreliable, their routers are unreliable, their lines are unreliable, at any moment one (if not all) will give way.
Waste of money and I want out of this contract.

AVOID!!! Worst company ever! They should be sued for failing to provide the basics obligations of their contract. Honestly, they should not be allowed to operate in this country. I have to ring them on a nearly weekly basis to report I have no internet connection, waiting times to speak to someone are from 1 hour and 30 mins upwards, they just don't care about their clients and the low quality services they provide, and they have ridiculous charges if you want to exit early out of their contract even though it's their fault they can't provide the services that they advertise for. If you care about your sanity, choose a different company. They don't even deserve a star.

We joined Origin in January 2017 after our Sky broadband contract came to an end and we wanted to find a cheaper service. I found Origin and paid £189.99 for 12 months upfront, which worked out much cheaper. Though it is now October, we are on the third major issue with them - the internet is intermittent and cuts out periodically/doesn't work at all. Devices ask for the password to be entered multiple times, sometimes without it then connecting. I rang Origin and was on hold for well over an hour to speak to the technical support team. Tried again last night, same issue - after being on hold for about 30 minutes we got cut off, so when I rang back was assured there was only a 12 minute wait for the tech team. I gave up and my husband took over waiting - at least an hour and 20 minutes after I was first placed on hold, he gave up and put the phone down. Customer service is shocking, most of the time they don't appear to have any idea what they're talking about. When it works, Origin are fine. When it doesn't work (all too often), Origin are awful. Please avoid them! As soon as we can get out of our contract we will do

After a troubled month-long switch from Plusnet to Origin (Plusnet at fault there?) it was finally connected but the speed had halved (from around 14 Mbps to 7 Mbps sync speed). Have tried their router and my own one I was using with Plusnet - no improvement.
Origin simply ignore all forms of communication. A nightmare company all round.

OK... so here it is ive read reviews of other people, now i started building pcs when windows 95 was released im very tech savvy and know what im on about with speeds and service connections etc.
Now id been a virgin customer for years and there speeds are much better but there always ramping up prices and it was winding me up that iud been on moneysavingexperts site at the time and came across 'originbroadband' now i opted to pay 2 years upfront at the time i got that for just under £300 pounds all in works out at 12.50 a month in my case but its already paid and i never get any bills, now first thing i did was unplugged my actual home phone i dont use it and it started ringing before id ghiven out its number so i assumed it was sales or whatever but anyway i ONLY plug my home phone in if i want to make a phone call from it and that would be a free phone number only as i like not ever having any bills, but have a good mobile contract so my calls are done on my mobile anyway, now origin uses bt systems in actuality they all share its infrastructures and networks unless were talking cable and fibre optic, you are supplied with a free router but a cat 5 ethernet cable you want to buy a cat 6/7/8 (6) will be cheapest and fine ethernet cable (ebay?) even asda ethernet cables will be cat 5, cat 5 is terrible but any free ethernet cable you will get you can assume will be cat 5, if you hardwire your connection via ethernet your speed will be faster and more reliable and you can get 10m 20m cables and such, also buy a better microfilter to squeeze a little more juice out of that phone line again (ebay?) so all this up to 17mb jargon you here, this translated into a real typical download speed of 0.7gb per second im talking you know torrents or whatever expect to be hitting 0.7gb real download speed of these files again you get what you pay for, now if i run an actual speed test on my line it tells me my my download speed is 7gb per second so you may be thinking well why am i getting 10% of this in real terms then? well the answer is and i was clued into this by virgin media a long time ago and the respons was at that time as i was on about 20gb speed with them '20gb is your container speed and youre real actual download torrent speed would be 10% of that which was why at that time i was recvieving 2gb per second download speeds, so this is omething to remmeber we can call this clever marketing to make things sound better than what they are but in summary 20gb=2gb 50gb=5gb and so on REMEMBER THIS,now im rating this 5 starts in overall satisfaction purely as i got what i paid for it does the job i require it was cheap and thats it.
