Honestly, garbage I only went with sse as they were the only provider that had fibre coverage in my street, with lan connection my Internet is "ok" at best but sitting 7ft from my router my WiFi is beyond garbage, I would not be surprised if basic copper cable connection is faster with a better provider I cannot recommend SSE any less than is physically possible theyvare beyond absolute garbage to the point that I use my unlimited 4g phone plan to stream anything including online gaming it's that bad, if you haven't got the gist yet go with bt or talk talk or sky I wouldn't touch sse with a 500ft barge pole ever again in my life crap service. End of.

I do not think it is possible to put into words just how strongly I am urging the reader of this review to not sign up to a broadband contract with SSE. Find a different provider! My connection was due to go live 3 weeks ago now, and I still have no internet. I have spent hours over the last few weeks on the phone to the helpline, and most of that has been on hold. Be ready to be on hold for about 30 minutes before you get through to anyone. Then you will have to explain the problem again from scratch. Then you will be told to carry out some new check on the connection, probably one that you have already been asked to carry out several times before. Sometimes they will actually be proactive and phone you, but the person will have information about a week out of date and will be mystified at the fact that the thing they have called you about has now already been checked. The latest update is that they want to schedule their second engineer visit. Why this is required when the first engineer told me that they had tested everything at my end and found no problems, no one so far has been able to adequately explain. They want me to take another day off work. Should I change provider? There is apparently a chance there is a network problem which would go with me to a new provider, but I was still tempted to do so for the chance I got a more competent help service.

Fortunately I have now discovered that I can get fibre broadband installed in the property, so I will be doing that. I pity anyone in this position who does not have that option.

To sum up, sign up to a broadband contract with SSE at your own risk!

Changed over from BT Broadband today - a couple of hiccups in getting the service going but then got sorted late afternoon. So far, so good - unlimited data, super fast broadband and half the price I was previously paying. My BT service has always been good but I was paying over £50 a month for the service which I can't afford to do now.

I was already to transfer to sse from sky.I had the welcome pacage come but no date for switch over.I was due to have my sky cancel within days.I rang bearing in mind I placed the order some 3 weeks ago.they could not give me a date for the broadband.so it would mean I could be without phone and broadband for weeks.I went back to sky after looking on these reviews.not very encouraging and done a deal for fibre optic for not much more.the good thing is no it eruption. Sometimes better the devil you know.in this day and age it should be straight forward.
Just do your homework customer support is a waste of your time 40mins to speak to someone who cannot help.I don't need the hassle.

Switched from BT - to "SSE Superfast". My A**e. It is turtle slow, keeps cutting out and has low download speeds - less than 11. Trying now to get out of this deal as no good paying for something that has been falsely advertised in my opinion.

My 18 month contract with SSE ultrafast fibre came to an end but the price increased to a staggering £48 i did consider switching but its to much hassle instead opted for the new monthly service same broadband but line rental only as i hardly use the landline , i still think this is an ok deal as ive always had a good speed with SSE.

    STAY AWAY.
After looking into SSE to replace BT for my phone and broadband - their deal for £21 seemed appealing. Spoke to their agent as I was not keen on paying the conection charge I as informed that as a current BT customer I would not be charged. So I went ahead with the the online application. Two days later I receive the paper work which I read through. I notice the connection charge. So I call them... 40 mins on hold I get to an agent. I enquire about the connection charge... They tell me to hold on. They come back and ask me when I applied for the service. I would have expected they know as they have sent me the paperwork!!! They then inform me that the charge was introduced a few days ago before I applied for the service. Connector charge is £60.

Cheap deal but found them to be dishonest

Very very poor customer service I have experienced ever.
They only good till we register with them, once we are in contract ,we have to keep on requesting them for each service. Wrong promise always.

no stars as did all reading up about them, spoke to them on the phone to ask a few questions, then phoned next day only to find that they would only supply the service if you had a phone line already, I had established that this was not required, then they moved the goalposts, although the offer was not supposed to end till 16/9, I wasted hours on this for nothing.

They seem to limit upload/download speed to less than 50% the regular speed almost every day.
I'm a freelance graphic designer and this entire outfit has caused me to be even slower than the 35mbit fibre I had with sky, much less the 78mbit speed I can get for about an hour a day before it throttles me back.

I read online that the services are actually provided by Daisy Wholesale.
I've today written a complaint to SSE and delivered via recorded postage. At the same time I'm bringing the matter to the attention of the Ombudsman and Ofcom.
I suggest eveyone else experiencing underhanded throttling also do the same. It takes 10 minutes of your time and right now it's critical that no new customers are onboarded with SSE Unlimited Ultrafast Fibre without knowing the material facts which will effect their daily use of the service. I thought we were past this kind of rubbish but now we're all locked in to an 18 month contract with them.

I don't torrent, download significant amounts of data, but it seems that services such as teamviewer are seen as p2p and as such it's impossible to use for even 30 minutes logging in to my desktop machine upstairs to fetch files before these SOB's throttle the connection.

We're livid. They have picked the wrong person to target with fraudulent advertising of services.
