Default It all works so whats the problem?

Hi, I recently bought a new pc with vista on it. I set up the pc and plugged the Bt router ( from my previous pc) in using the ethernet connection and hey presto all works fine.
On my old system to go on the net you had to click on the BT broadband icon and then you would be asked to enter your username etc before you got access.
On my new pc I just click on the internet explorer icon and off you go, to anywhere you like.
My concern is I have never been asked by this pc who my ISP is or any other details whatso ever, am I automatically connecting using BT broadband, did it know automatically or am I going to be presented with a massive phone bill in the future.
Sorry if this is a daft question but its all goballdy gook to me.

Cheers

The router itself is actually a little computer and it handles all the connecting to the broadband supplier details for you.

You can only have one broadband supplier on a telephone line so it will definitely be connecting to BT. It's all quite normal.
