I have a problem playing World of Warcraft for 2 months now. We have 3 people playing in my house (and before people shout "Too many users!", it worked fine before). After 7pm every night, my account cannot play without really bad latency (25000ms +). The other accounts can play fine, even on my computer. But no matter which computer I log in on, I cant play.
I first thought it was an account problem, so I got in contact with Blizzard Technical Support and after a month of going round in circles with them (pathping, buy a new router, pathping, update my drivers, pathping, switch back to old router, pathping, run Windows Update, virus scan... etc...) they claimed there was nothing they could do on their end and that I should contact my ISP. So I did. I am using BT Total Broadband Option 3, and after several phone calls they switched interleaving off, so I was on a Fast connection. No difference. They checked the line and ran other tests on their end but found no problems. Their answer was it was not a problem with their service and that I should get in contact with Blizzard. Even when I am the only one online, I experience unplayable latency. I can browse the internet and stream as usual (well... at peak time XD). Because of this, I have become addicted to Facebook games. To be honest, I dont know where else to get advice - the two services are blaming each other and sending me round in circles. I just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem, or knows a fix...

Have I read this right, your account has problems on all the computers sharing your broadband connection but other accounts work fine on your computer? That does seem like a problem at Blizzard's end.
The next thing I'd test is whether you have problems playing WoW on someone else's broadband connection. Do you have a friend who lives elsewhere who'd allow you to attempt to use your account over their broadband? It might be worth taking this problem to the World of Warcraft forums and asking other experienced players if they've had similar problems and found a solution. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you have read it right - I cant use my account on any of our computers after 7pm ![]() I have posted on the Blizzard forum about my problem, and they just either dont believe me or repeat what the Tech Support said about it not being a problem on their end. I dont have any neighbours as such... they all tend to be over 70 and havent even heard of the internet, but I did let one of my in-game friends log in to my account from his house in Denmark and he said there is no problem, and the Blizzard GMs also can log in fine. |

It seems unlikely that BT would have a problem with your account but no one else's, unless different accounts are assigned to different servers? Everything I can think of that could be a factor otherwise would affect other people when signing in on your machine, or using the same network.
I'm afraid of I can't think of much else to suggest. Maybe someone else who visits this forum has some experience of similar problems? |

I also thought that might be the case, but it does not seem so. Blizzard tell me they do use an ingame peering connection, not just their updater program. Blizzard think its due to throttling, although i did not use any peering programs or any other heavy traffic programs for a long long time.
Out of boredom ive started using peer programs again. and have noticed i get throttled down to 2kb/s from 6pm to 12am with it. Im starting to think that this is the cause. although it conpletely baffles me and BT that only one account is affected by this |
