Unhappy Tiscali router not connecting

We're having trouble connecting to Tiscali with our laptop. It connects to wireless networks ok, but when we try to connect it to our new tiscali (via the installation CD), it comes up with 'could not connect to router' even though it's all plugged in.

And it's not the cables, phone line or router that are the problem, because it all works on my dad's laptop.

Any ideas? Cheers,

Harry.

You don't normally have to put broadband supplier installation software
on your laptop to connect to the router, it is the router that connects
to tiscali, the computers in the house then connect to the router.

As your dad's laptop is working fine and connecting to the router and
then connecting to the internet I am assuming that the problem is with
your laptop.

Having Googled around for the Siemens Gigaset and Tiscali the best
suggestion seems to be to make sure that you have the latest wireless
network drivers installed on your laptop, as this has solved the problem
for others with the same problem you have.

Have you reported the issue with Tiscali technical support? They will
have a knowledgebase of similar problems and may also be able to provide
detailed technical help.

Thanks for your help on this. It continues, I'm afraid.

You suggest making sure I have the latest wireless network drivers on my laptop. Would this make a difference given that I'm not trying to connect wirelessly?

Tiscali support is proving slow. They've said they've checked the connection and it's fine. I know that! I've gone back to them underlining more precisely the nature of the problem.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Harry.

HI,

Crikey, ive been searching for anwers to this for like 6 weeks now. Do you love in Lewes or the sussex area? If you do, then lots of others are having problems too with connecting to internet during the day times. Here is a link to my post on other site, does this resemble your problems?
