Default Wireless broadband in Ellon

Hiya.

After a year with Pipex Homecall (which included a 14 week wait for it to be put on!!!) Im now looking for a wireless connection so to play XBox Live. I live in Ellon with postcode AB41 9LW and I belive I can get a maximum of 6Mb speed.

Im looking for an ISP that has a stable connection as Im a frequent online player and nothing is as worse as lagging all over the place, Id also like a good downlaod limit as I do download a fair amount of files but nothing too major. Also a provided wirless router is a must

Ive looked at BT for thier 12 month contract options but Id just like to check other ISP's to see if there is a better deal

Thanks,
Martin

Hi there

As you are a gamer I would check out the Plusnet deal that I talked about in this previous post

It is available in your area and we agree that you should be able to get up to 6Mb at your postcode location. Plusnet do offer free wireless routers on some of its deals, others you have to pay extra or buy one yourself. For more info see our wireless guide.

Also with Plusnet the minimum contract length is only 1 month, so if you don't like them you can easily switch and not be logged in

hope this helps

Hi there in Ellon

I have been with BT since Oct'06 and twice now my speed has dropped from 6800kbps to under 200kbps for prolonged periods of time. The first episode lasted a week before they sorted the problem out (at the exchange). This time I am on day 14 of absolute headbanging against a wall with the support people in India. My local exchange is 1km away from my home in AB14 and I have had two engineer visits and still no joy.
To be honest - the support if something does crop up - is very, very poor. So if you like your gaming I would not personally recommend BT TOTAL BROADBAND - try O2 ? I am going there soon myself.
