Default ADSL2 providers

Hi,

I am about to need a Broadband connection (as well as everything else). This forum has been very useful for my initial foray but there is very little out there on some of the smaller providers that appear to offer some very fast 24mbps ADSL2 services. What are the catches with for example ADSL24 or TitanADSL. I am aware they don't offer the bundles and are more expensive than the big guys but as far as I an concerned I am savy enough to sort out my own bundle and am prepared to pay a bit more for reliability and speed.

Matt

Hi

There are quite literally hundreds of broadband suppliers in the UK, however the majority of connections are with the largest 15-20 suppliers.

Most of the smaller broadband suppliers are resellers of a larger network, for instance there are several suppliers using Tiscali's LLU network.

It would be a pretty impossible task for us to keep up to date details on all the suppliers in the country so we concentrate on the suppliers that cover the majority of people.

If you have any questions about a specific supplier, even one we don't list, then just ask and we'll research the answer for you.

Hope this helps

fair point,

OK then, in one list of best ISPs, TitanADSL is coming out the best. They have informed me that their 24mbs service will be up and running within 6 weeks. They are offering a 35Gb download service with unlimited downloads between midnight and 8am for £19.56 per month. This comes with free weekend and evening calls to landline numbers . I think there must be an initial set cost and I will need to supply my own ADSL2+ capable router. How does this sound. their feedback suggests a very good customer service

Any helpful hints or warnings would be gratefully received.

regards

Matt

Hi Matt

TitanADSL are a reseller of Entanet. Entanet don't provide services directly to customers, they use a number of resellers to do this for them, TitanADSL being one of them.

The ADSL2+ product that Titan are offering is based on BT Wholesales Whoelsale Broadband Connect (WBC) product. This isn't rolled out the entire country yet, so if it's available to you in about 6 weeks then your exchange must be getting upgraded shortly.

You can see the Interconnect status of Entanets infrastructure at Entanet NOC 21CN Interconnect Status and the loads look very low, which means that the service experience right now would be good.

Of course your distance from your exchange will determine the kind of speeds you are likely to get, as with ADSL the further you are from the exchange the slower the speeds you will get.

On prices, they sound OK, though you'll have to add BT line rental on top of course. Be Unlimited offer the same speeds and unlimited downloads for £17.50 per month, and they throw in a free wireless router. You should take a look and see if they are available on your exchange (they have an excellent reputation as well).

I hope this helps, any other questions just ask
Thanks

I want to change broadband supplier and Heart Telecom appears to fit the bill.
However I am rather confused about speeds. When I look at the dialbb Status on this computor it says 4.2.
On various speed checkers {including broadband.co.uk] it says 2.7,while Heart Telecom says up to 7.5 is available. Can youy clarify and give an opinion on Heart Telecom
