Default Bt land lines

Can somebody help me with this question' I am moving into a new house(my first)and the last occupiers had talk talk for there calls and broadband.
I want to go with bt but the landline and number is owned by talk talk.
Bt want to charge me £122 for reconnection of the line' is there aany way around this charge as i do not want talk talk and never asked for it' seems really unfair to expect me to pay for someone elses doing.

Thanks.

Hi There

Technically BT are within their rights to charge the reconnection fee, as they do have to physically rewire your connection at the exchange to move you from Talk Talks equipment back onto their own.

However we've heard of cases where people who have signed up for minimum term contracts for BT services have had the connection charge waived or discounted, so it's probably worth calling up BT and explaining that you want to sign up for BT services and that the connection fee is a sticking point, you may find that you can strike a deal with them.

I hope this helps
