Default Help with student broadband

Hi,

I am currently a 2nd year international student and will be sharing a house with 3 other students. We are looking for an unlimited and fast broadband. I just realized that my post code is a non-cable area (SE16 7FN) and based on the post code checker on this website the quickest speed I can get is 8mbps from Virgin media or BT. (my top two picks)

Question is, which would be better? Virgin or BT? Or are there any other suggestions?
I was quite interested in o2 broadband services but it was not listed in the post code checker.

Also, is there an additional fee for phone line rental for BT? Or is there something I have to do with the phone line before I can set it up for broadband?

Thanks for your help.

Hi There

I've done a check on that postcode and you are right that there is no Cable, so I wouldn't bother with Virgin non-cable.

Your best bet for fast and unlimited is O2 Broadband or Be Broadband.

For both of these providers you will need a working BT phone line before you can order.

I hope this helps
Thanks

Heya!

You should go with Tiscali UK's best value broadband, talk and digital TV. I have them for my broadband, phone and tv and the whole package is really good and good value too, especailly in a student house where you split the cost.

I went with Be (there's an £8 per month deal on that the moment up til the end of this year!) You can search by post code or phone number and comes up with all the best deals just for students

We went with Virgin as they didn't require us to have a phone line.

Sky has just announced that they have DROPPED their fair use policy! So it would seem Sky Broadband ise the best bet for the type of students who enjoy watching 100 episodes of Lost illegally!
