Hi,

For someone who is actually lookin for a broadband connection that provides good speed at lower costs, one can always go for a connection from BT as I have been using their service from quite a long time and I am quite satisfied with their service. BT is providing 8 Mbits speed with a download limit of 5GB.

Did you not bother to read the last few posts about how bad BT are as a provider???

I've just got my MAC code of BT.

Used this direct phone line No. 0800 800 030
And didn't get redirected to India, though you may just have to wait in a queue..
hope this helps........

Also getting irregular and slow download speeds, 0.3Mb when it has been 1.3Mb...
so goodbye BT......

We have recently moved and was told that we are quite a way from the exchange and our speed will be pretty low. Does this vary from provider or will they all be the same ? We were with Tisclai but moved as terrible customer service !!

Well all ADSL providers will be hit by the same limitations speed wise at your property, some of the ADSL2+ providers (such as O2 and Be) will maybe able to provide a faster speed. If you can get Virgin Media Cable in your area then they will not suffer from the speed/distance issue.

I would advise using an entanet reseller such as ADSL24 or UKFSN. ADSL24 have just produced a new pricing plan for 24mbps. They are brilliant - excellent service with emails and telephone calls, no service drops (that I've encountered) and for heavy users there is no traffic shaping either.
I am getting 330BG downloading (30GB peak and 300GB offpeak) at up to 8mbps for £19.99 a month. It is a monthly contract with no fees for migrating in or away.

Just my opinion though.
