Mobile Broadband in my smarthphone

Hi to all,
I will come in UK for a trip in the next months, so I am looking for something that will let me surf on the web by means of my Android smartphone in UK without spend a lot of money for roaming.
I have seen that there are some operators that offer a Pay as you Go Mobile Broadband plan, now my question is: can I buy only the SIM (with Pay as you go Mobile Broadband) as soon I will land in UK and put it in my phone and use it just to go online?

Try GiffGaff.com, they'll send you just the SIM, you may need to get a friend in the UK to post it to you though.
