Question Switching broadband providers

I'm moving from Tiscali to Virgin (but their off-cable, old fashioned system as I can't get cable in my property). I've done the MAC code bit and it's all in progress but what I can't find anywhere is an answer that tells me whether or not I'll need to do anything when the switch is made, or if I'll just be automatically routed through the new ISP. To make matters more complicated, I use a Netgear wireless router. Has anyone switched ISP before? What was your experience? Thanks

Default Re: Switching broadband providers

Hi there

Once you have provided your MAC code to your new supplier they will arrange the switch at the exchange. When this happens it may take around 30 minutes, but can be less, during this time you will have no internet.

Once the switch at the exchange is done then you will need to change your username and password on your router, this will be supplied to you by Virgin.

Virgin should also tell you what day and time to expect the switch over.

Your Netgear router should be fine with Virgins service.

Hope this helps
