Default What broadband should i go for?

Hi there guys,

im a little new to all this. in the past pretty much everything has been done by my dads mate so i need some help. Im going to be moving out to leicester (where i go to uni ) next week and i need to get a broadband connection. Now ive had a look in the flat and i think there is a place where you can put a phone line "thingy" into. at the moment i dont think line rental or anything of that sort is being paid (the flat was empty for a while before we bought it). Ive had a quick look on the internet to see what options are avaliable to me but there are so many out there it can get a little confusing. Could you guys recommend a particular package i should go for?
The postcode is LE1 6JJ and ill be living alone. Ill need the internet for all the standard things such as streaming movies, downloading etc
I wouldnt mind going for a broadband only package if its cheaper ( i dont really wanna be paying extra for line rental on top of the broadband connection if it can be avoided)

thnx alot

abbas

Hi Abbas

I've done a search for that postcode and unfortunately Virgin Media is not available to you, they are the only fixed line suppliers who don't require you to have a BT landline.

So to go fixed line broadband you will need to get the BT phone line activated, you can then choose from a number of suppliers. If you go to www.broadband.co.uk and use the postcode checker it will show you the deals available in your area.

You might also be interested in mobile broadband , but if you are going to do lots of streaming/gaming then it might not have a big enough download allowance or high enough speed for you.

Hope this helps

hi there. thnx for the reply. i appreciate the help. Just to confirm.... I think i might have an inactive bt landline at the premisis, so ill probably be activating it. Once i activate it will i be paying bt's landline rental and then on top of that the cost of the internet provider from the site you just gave me?

Yes you are correct, you have to pay the monthly fee to the broadband supplier AND line rental to BT.

Hi, moving to UK in December and I am seeking a broadband package, which will enable me to download movies and music, stream and must be unlimited. I mean REAL unlimited (up to 30GB per month)

Moving to the Chelmsford area in Essex - which package do you recommend?

Thanks in advance
