I left Virgin for TalkTalk; I stayed with TalkTalk for over 2 years & now I'm with GNetwork.
I am now getting double the speed at half the price that TT offered. I didn't want to leave TT but they couldn't match the price.
I told them then and there I was giving them a months notice.
Because I was having to keep their services for an extra month I would be on a monthly contract, so from paying about £24/m I was now going to pay &36/m!

Good: The speed and quality of connection was excellent.
Bad: Not easy to get in touch with them, everything is automated and it doesn't run smoothly all the time.
Leaving them has been and still is an uphill battle. After a month and few days my line was still live; I called them and they argue that because I didn't listen to their T&C they didn't action my request and I have to pay another month at £36 before my contract is terminated.

The termination process left a bitter aftertaste that does not go away.
    I cannot recommend Talk Talk.

I have been with talk talk for 18 months.I looked at my bank account and found my monthly payment had doubled. I emailed them whereby they said they had sent an email to say my contract had expired on the 19th July 2022. I checked my email and I didn’t get one.I have asked to have that extra money back but they refused. They have offered me 35 fibre for my internet for the same price that I used to pay . I don’t think I will go for this .

The customer service agents are perfectly nice, however they have a script and have to stick to it, no matter what. If you escalate, the 'supervisor/manager/whatever' has to go through exactly the same script no matter the relevance. If the script doesn't fit your call, the only way to get resolution is to go through the ceo's office.

The speed into the house/router/via ethernet is just about perfect. However, what they don't tell you is that the wifi signal on the router they provide will only give you around half speed. They cite (rightly) other signals etc reducing the wifi., however my own situation, where there is nothing that could reduce the wifi signal, means that this does not stack up.
The sales agent was misinformed, assuring me that there would be no more than a couple of MB wifi drop in speed.

A visiting engineer out and out lied.
Some Talk Talk engineers and BT Engineers are pro-actively telling the customer how rubbish TalkTalk is which doesn't help create any faith in the company.

    Reliability is excellent.

The broadband has been fine for some years. We don't use the phone only to receive calls as the cost calling out is something comparable to a small gold coin per minute. My gripe is with the customer service....it has to be the worst experience...end of contract is a nightmare...I dread engaging with them... You haven't any idea what country you'll get hold of...will you understand them...will they understand you. Lost in translation was the film...and lost you will be with TT. If you raise a complaint you might get someone from GB calling...but not guaranteed... Service needs to seriously improve or the day will come when the camel will have it's final straw loaded and TT and me will part ways.

Talktalk can be good but every time there is an issue with your Broadband they say it's a problem in your house! I paid extra for their fasted Broadband and get what I was paying for at the lower rate?
Not too happy about this and changing would be a nightmare!!

I have been with talktalk for some years and in the last few months the internet would only pick up if ur in close proximity to the router....Therefore I could not use the Internet in no other room. Customer services were trying to be helpful by going through all types of troubleshooting however this problem still remained!! They even told me I had a problem with the wifi adapter on my laptop in which I seeker advice and there was no problem with this. After much perseverance I finally decided to change to sky broadband and I must say so far the service is fantastic.....I can use Internet in all rooms of my home as one should!!

My broadband with TalkTalk is fine, but in the last six months my phone service has stopped working four times. TalkTalk gave my number to multiple customers and getting it put right took a long time. My phone was down for six weeks all together and I had to phone TalkTalk over 10 times - which wasted hours of my time. TalkTalk customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Avoid them if possible. I wish I had never taken out my contract.

Firstly, I will say that I consider basic telephone and broadband services as UTILITIES, not some high tech option or accessory subject to brand differentiation or loyalty. That said, TalkTalk may be somewhat cheaper than BT (who I left two years ago) but they play fast and loose with their contracts and term variance, just like or perhaps more than other providers. Getting problems resolved contract complexities explained is neigh unto impossible. A time consuming pain.

    Useless customer service.

I've been a customer for over 5 years an never had a problem with the line.

it started when the talktalk router HG635 kept dropping the wifi signal and then asking for the password of devices that were already connected before it dropped every few days and having to reboot the router for the wifi signal to work. When the wifi is dropped, the SSID is not visible so cannot chosen. This increased to 3-4 times a day. Before i contacted TalkTalk CS i did a few checks of my own (my job includes working with networks, routers, switches etc). We had recently bought new cordless house phones and eliminated them from being the cause by disconnected them and went back to the old phones for week and also changed channels on the router but the problem still occurred. My line is good and any device connected by Ethernet had no issues even when the WiFi had dropped, they still worked. I have network points in every room with devices connected via 16 port hub. So with this I narrowed the fault to the router. I called the CS number (0345..) which put me thorough to a utterly useless messaging service. After explaining the issue in full and what i had done to fault find, all they kept doing was line checks and of course it was fine. This went on for over 4hrs after which they said they could book a engineer which will be chargeable (£65). This is useless i thought and contacted them by the Chat window thinking i'll get more joy. Explained the issue and said i had tried the messaging service and what checks i had done to prove the fault to no avail. They did the same test with the same results (Really!!). To be fair the lady did try but the issue returned with gusto after a day. So i contacted them via the chat window again while the wifi was down thinking they have my previous call on record and could check the router (which they can) while the the problem was in effect and see for themselves. Oh no, No records of my previous contact and I had to go through the same palava again after i said the line been checked by themselves numerous times and the fault is with the router. Being that i was chatting to them using my pc in my house which is wired and i confirmed, they couldn't grasp the fact the line was good.
Again they said they can book an engineer at cost. they added that if the router had to be replaced this would be extra £60 and have to (get this..) return the faulty one back to them.
That done it for me and at this point i had enough and bought one of the bay for HG633 for £3 + postage which will arrive in a few days.

I never had a problem with the line and still don't but it seems their script only contains info about the checking of the line and goes blank if anything other than that.
I'm not expecting them to know the environment in my house but if the problem only exists in the house and only on wifi and proven, it does not take a IQ of Albert Einstein to quickly realise the fault is with the router.

Being charge to return a faulty unit on top of being charged for a replacement takes the utter Pee. If this is how they are, i may as well buy a my own router like a draytex router which i had before and was faultless and provided excellent service for the 7 years i had it

Connection drops everyday but their customer service or technical dept do nothing and go over a fixed script and they do this everytime you call. The talk talk call centres in india is the most fraudulent as they sell customer details to thiefs for business. The thiefs will take personal info, name address and telephone and ring them to scam money out of the customers. Talk talk doesnt care as long as they get cheap workers so they dont have to pay full wage to workers such as in the UK. Talk talk know its happening but dont give a toss. So dont do business with them.

Horrible company.Complained many times about the speed of the Wi-Fi and the fact that it stops working out of nowhere and that it doesn’t cover the whole house,it would literally work outside my house but not my home…they kept blaming it on the router and where I lived, they made me pay for a new router I accepted as my kids need wifi to do school work I tried everything.I pay £40 for nothing as the Wi-Fi doesn’t work as it should and even when you call they will run tests and never resolve the issue always blaming it on the router and leaves you days without Wi-Fi and don’t get the hint that they need to improve their service.if it wasn’t about how stressful it is to move to another company I would have done it ages ago as talk talk is the worst ever company.
All the workers were patient and helpful HOWEVER when I had to submit the complaint the person was having an attitude saying there’s nothing the can do so they were going to close it as it’s not my fault either that they don’t know how to communicate as a business.disgraceful and embarrassing

    Well I am a TalkTalk veteran/idiot!

As my wife constantly reminds me this is the 2nd time in 5 years that I have had to ditch TT and go back to BT.

Starting with the positives, the set up goes ok and (as I only live 100 metres from the BT exchange) I get high speeds.....when its working. However we are plagued with seemingly random drop-outs

For example I got up at 6am this Sunday (ie the quietest possible time) to watch the Grand Prix this morning and suffered 4 drop outs in the space of 90 minutes which ruined the race.

TT is fine for my elderly mother, but If you run your own business, do a lot of imporant zoom calls at home, or play deathmatch COD then I really cant recommend this service - never mind the fact that their "Customer Service" rely on the very generous (and presumably free) help of other users on a web forum.

Back with BT, at least you cant get fobbed off with "their may be a problem with the line".....as its their blooming copper lines!

Just had a phone cal from TT to 'review' my contract. Soon became apparent that "are you happy with the service" means "do you want to enter into a new, 24 month contract without actually being asked a direct question?"

I asked for e-mail of offer, Ts & Cs etc. Couldn't be done. I wasn't content to agree first and see what I had agreed to afterwards, or to root around TT's website trying to guess which package I was being offered.

Went round the houses several times. When threatened with being put onto monthly terms, I retaliated by threatening to look for another provider. Suddenly, I could have the offer by e-mail. Hasn't arrived yet, and I'm inclined to look elsewhere anyway, given the underhand way in which TT tried to get me to stay.

Have been with TalkTalk since July 2009. Supose to have gone livein the July I eventually got my router in August only after I told them I was cancelling with them, Someone had not orderd it, had to call them around 8 times about this and blatently lied to all but the last time when i was phoning to cancel. Billing a joke had to cancel my direct debit with my bank and in the end change my bank as they were trying from the oct of 2009 to take the money from my account day's earlier than dd set up for so i was getting hit for nonpayment by them and bank charges because of the nonpayment also late payment fees by talktalk. it was costing me around £200pa to have talktalk dd. Upgraded computers april 2010 have had no security from them since then but still being billed for it even now, TT ask me to switch fromn essentials to pluss package in August 2010 still waiting and being charged for the download boost that was cancelled when I agreed to switch£4.00pm + the£2.00pm for security. I am promissed at least twice a month that i have been switched over when i have not been so still being charged for calls that should be cheaper or free. Router went down 18th sept 2010 bought my own got fed up with waiting for equivilent to be dispatched got that Jan this year from them. Been disconnected twice even though bill was paid. To be honest for a comunication company the dont communicate with each other or the customer. They have failed to honner there contrat with me from July 2009 yet threaten me when i say im wanting mac code to go else where I believe i would be with in my rights to walk from the last5 months of this contract i have never recieved any appologies or real offers of compensation from them. I desperatly want a new Provider and soon as they just talk but dony doMy oppinion of them is rubbish all this is factual not like them fictional in there stories to cover there backs sorry but the customer is not ever right in there eyes incompedent

So I have had talktalk as a provider for my phone and internet since I lived in Gosport in September 2010, I then moved to Ely, Cambridgeshire in November 2011, and despite phoning and emailing them they were unable to transfer my phone and broadband until a month after I moved but that it turns out was the least of my problems, I added tv to my package when it became available and then in February 2014 I then moved to Benwick, Cambridgeshire and began trying to get my talktalk package transferred to the new house, now at first my new address wasn't available on their system, to the point they asked if it was even registered with Royal mail and said they would have to add it to their system and this would take 3-4 days, a week later I then phoned again to find out what was happening and turns out the request to have my address added had not even been filed so I was told it would take another 10 days - 2weeks, around 2 weeks later I phoned again- at this point I had already moved out of my old house, it was then they told me that they could only provide me with a phone line at my new address, so naturally I requested to cancel this also involved them asking me if I wanted to put my account on hold for 2 months while I thought about it- not much to think about really as I wanted phone, internet and tv, thinking the request for cancellation had gone through I continued to set up my new house with bt as they were able to proivide all services. A month went by and suddenly money for a talktalk bill was taken from my bank account, now I hadn't used any of their services for over a month and having asked for it to be cancelled I got back on the phone to them, where they passed me from person to person hung up on me and tried to refuse giving me my money back, until eventually telling me the only was I could get a refund would be in a months time or unless I filed an indemnity claim with my bank- now I did not see why I should have to wait a month for them to pay back money they had essentially stolen from me so I went ahead and file an indemnity claim at the bank, whilst on the phone talktalk assured me I would be charged no more money and all charges such as early cancellation charges would be voided as they could not provide me with the services I wanted and they had messed me around. Finally I was seeing the light at the end of this rather stressful period, until today (19/04/2014) over 2 months after my first contact with talktalk I receive and email telling me my april bill is ready to be viewed, and this is where I get the biggest shock the bill is a total of £332.15 - listing Contract Breakage Fee charges of £154.92 + YouView+ Box Deferred Fee of £200, so their promises of voiding all charges was clearly yet again another lie and not once did they ask for a return of the youview box, nevertheless they will not on any circumstances be receiving another penny from me as I have cancelled the direct debit, and I refuse to pay for their mistakes and lies.

Not sure if this is relevant to my complaint as it is a fault on my landline I have contacted talktalk 4times in the last 2days to explain that I have a very noisy landline each time I’ve been told they can not find fault on my broadband yes they are correct no fault on broadband it’s the phone line. I have been instructed to get a screwdriver to take off the cover on the main box coming into the house making sure not to damage the wiring …I am not a young person but why should I who has no qualifications on wiring expected to do this it is there equipment so it surely is down to talktalk to send a qualified person to sort this problem…each time they keep saying we can find no problem with you broadband….I am now so sick of talktalk that I’m just going to use my mobile and will be looking for a new provider even though I’ve been with them for years.
To add to this again had another text saying they can’t fault my broadband…

    I’ve had enough…..

Can be good in terms of speed, but it's very unpredictable, I get 30mbps average but sometimes I could be getting 20mbps or 40mbps. It's very unreliable but good for basic usage like internet browsing but any WiFi can do that, and better.

As I no longer require my Talk - Talk connection and the telephone is to be discontinues. On 10th Sept I called for the service to be cancelled. I spoke to a most unhelpful person in India ?? who told me that I needed to give 30 days notice. It has been arranged for this Sat. Since then I have advised / replied 4 times to their e-mails. I have just received another e-mail from them saying I need to give 30 days notice.

Motivated to leave this review because of the appalling deceit I had to suffer at the hands of a string of customer service call handlers and managers. Simply trying to end contract and allow new home owners to take over line after handling the Estate of my deceased parents. All I got were lies about inabilities to do this or that, then attempts to re-sell the contract to me. They could hear how upset and exasperated I was in dealing with them and they knew I was dealing with the recent death of my parent. I can only guess that call centre staff are set immoral and unachievable targets making it costly for them to listen to what a bereaved customer actually needs. AVOID THIS IMMORAL OUTFIT.

I have been cut off every three months in an 18 month contract. In between I receive intermittent connectivity on a line that can only deliver speeds up to 5mbps anyway.
If you contact them to complain, you are
    a) sent yet another new router, which has a stabilisation period if 3 weeks = no internet for 3 weeks
    b) told to contact them when the router/actual internet is down because in the 45-60 mins wait time, plus all the questions, checks etc they put you through the connection magically reappears.
Customer Service are wonderful people, but know **** about tech/hardware/software or even that a line that is adsl to cabinet and to home is incapable of being upgraded to fibre speeds. It's a vicious circle of checks, no problem here, and losing internet connection and the will to live.
Avoid this company like you would the coronavirus. It wants your money and nothing else.

The broadband is fine. NEVER take on the phone from Talk Talk. I cannot even make any calls out and there is the most awful noise on the line, I got through once they tested line and said all ok, then I said it is not so they started to tell me to get a screwdriver and undo the input or something, I am not technical and did not understand or want to do this myself as I know it can be dangerous and if I had done anything wrong it would be my fault. So they then asked for £60 for an engineer to come out. I am left nearly a month later with a phone I cannot hear anyone when they call and I cannot make any phone calls out. I CANNOT WAIT TO END THE CONTRACT AND WILL NEVER TOUCH TALK TALK AGAIN. They send a letter asking me to call them oh well I would love to if I could use the phone

Although Talk Talk will bend over backwards to try to help sort out the problem, nothing ever seems to get sorted. I don't know if this is because Customer Services is based in India or not, but I am always speaking to an Indian on the phone!!!

It wasnt that fast. Ok. But i had my phone if i couldnt get. on. My problem was at the end. My contract ended. 31 dec 2022. I paid the dec set payment as no extras. Like tv or phone. I rung up hard to get through. Got through i said i want to make sure u cancel. He said he would help with that. Abit of a quiet time and he put phone down. Tried again but couldnt get through. Went on chat. Had chats saying cancel after they were not going guantee cheaper. So i said cancel. They were passing here and there so went on trustpilot to get a respone as desperate to get it ended. They replied i said u know i want it ending contract left my details. Risky. Took them off once got answer. Spoke to supervisor saying not got cancellation so £43. I said not paying it we were argueing. He didnt get any where and i didnt. They decided they would continue with service. I unplugged and wanted it out of house. One chat said bag would come to return which i am waiting. I phoned consumers they said my rights were if they were continueing u have to receive pre contractual information. So i didnt get so due to that i have over a year to cancel. I sent direct message and a letter recorded delivery telling them what my rights were so i am canceling.. Not heard anything. Couple of days ago i get the boardband starting it was up and running at my request but i hadnt requested it. Its still unplugged. It feels like bullying. Talking over u with it being pushed on u. I have new provider and decided to go through the switch to make things easier. Got a few messages that i screen shot. I cancelled direct debit after dec payment as i read money had come out of some peoples accounts. They r dishonest. The trick is not confirming the end of service./ Contract then. He said we havent got any cancelation £43 so u owe £43. I feel its money by deception fraud. They r criminals. I wont be using them again. I may of done but never again as i have contract when it ends i look for deal. Here there and every where. But never will go back to talktalk I didnt know this sort of thing happened. Now i want to cancel in 6 months in advance with new provider. . As its scared me..

Where do I start with this review. It has to be as long as it is because there has been SO many issues with this company, just looking and seeing the words Talktalk fill me with dread and anxiety. I have asked them to ban me from their services so if I ever lose my marbles or forget what myself and partner have been through we don’t accidently try to sign up years down the line.

So we had Talktalk at our old address, my girlfriend lived their first and it was in her name, initially I had no issues setting up here internet there. Easy as 1,2,3 guy came out, signed up for it online, no issues with internet, would of stayed with them for decades if what was to come never happened.

So I move in with her after we get married, at this point she has had Talktalk for around 4 years, no issues, good internet, fast and reliable. Please do not get me wrong I am a very patient man and incompetence is rampant in 2023 so I expect some teething issues, but what I experienced left me literally insane.

So I try to switch to new address online, nope sorry online system cant do that (no reason why just can’t) so I try live chat, nope can’t do that. I hate doing things on the phone because it always devolves into a he said/she said type of argument down the line. Anyway I ask the lady to switch to my new address. She repeats what I say and what I want word for word, seems very competent sets me up a new account in my name for our new address and closes the account for my wife.
Only issue with the call I would say is it took ages because they have to transfer me to 100 different departments no matter who you call will have to transfer you multiple times.
No problem right? Well I check the email shortly after of the confirmation and I see a completely different address than the one I gave her, somewhere near to my address but I have never been there or even seen its name, so I cant of given it wrong.
Luckily during our chat I remember that we got disconnected at one point and she rang me back, so I ring this number and get straight to same lady. She says she must of clicked the wrong address on the system and that she will ring me back tomorrow, no issue.
Guess what, no call and then I get on the text, live chat, phone calls to get it sorted. I get assured that my address is changed and that I will get an email. I constantly get transferred I have issues verifying myself because obviously I have the wrong address on the system. Everytime I either get hung up on, disconnected or pass through dozens of departments because apparently no one there has the authority to do anything.
So No email comes after being basically told I’m pestering them and that I should 100% be sure that its sorted. Guess what, no email comes, no confirmation. Still cant log on to my account (like all the emails say I can) because the address is incorrect and I don’t have all the details of the incorrect address.
Eventually my GO-LIVE date comes, no text, no email, no modem. I get in contact with them again, hours of swapping departments, issues etc.
Oh sorry btw we have delayed your modem because we are busy. At this point I ask to cancel, so I get told to ring up, so I ring up (all my calls are recorded automatically too so I have proof of all of these events) and tells me that I am cancelled now and that my services are over.
At one point I got told by the live chat person to ring the cancellation line and apologising for their incompetence, she told me they are closed at 8. So I ring up as she has given me the number at 7, guess what? Sorry we are closed. This is the kind of incompetence I am talking about.
So knowing full well that all these people just tell me sweet little lies I message/text and live chat to see if it is a couple of days later, no SIR your services are still active. So after going insane I managed to contact them a dozen more times until I get written confirmation in the live chat that its cancelled.
I literally had to get some extra medication from my mental health dealing with this, as I must have spent a full working week dealing with this incompetence.
So after it is cancelled I get a text about a week later from an engineer asking if he can pop over to install the TalkTalk, I text him no I cancelled it weeks ago, no response from him after that. Then a modem pops up. (I’m currently on live chat as I type this just trying to get them to send me a returns bag to return it and being switched through 100 departments to be told to ring up) I’m sure I’ll still get charged for it to because they can’t do anything right.

So finally I think the nightmare is over, I turn up at my old address to pick up some mail and there is a Talktalk box there with my wife’s name on it? So they sent her a TalkTalk modem after she cancelled her services. Good thing I found it otherwise I’m sure they would send debt collectors after us and charge us £50 and damage our credit because cancelling a service to TalkTalk means send us a new modem too.

Honestly I think I could work for TalkTalk now and know all their staff by name, I must of put in 40 hours in the couple of weeks before I started this service, I’ll surely probably be receiving modems for the rest of my life so I can start my own broadband company, I only have 3 to return right now.
So no I will never be signing up with them again or recommending them, they offered me £40 off my bill and £100 in amazon vouchers to let them sort it out, I laughed, like ill ever get them and the issue will just sort itself out, no chance. I would not sign up to them again if they PAID me monthly to have it.

If you have severe health problems like myself and get ill from stress, DO NOT GO WITH TALKTALK, I would of stayed with them for decades if it wasn’t for sales messing it up starting the ball of issues spinning.
P.s Forgot to say at one point a lady on the live chat said she would get the complaints department to call me to sort out the issue, I got an email saying they would be in contact, that was over a week ago lol. Won’t hold my breath.

It was easy to get the service switched from BT. Speed and line reliability good. (The Huawei router can be a big problem to configure forwarding if you need it.) A year later trying to move service to another house was a nightmare. The main problem seems to be poor training and extraordinarily poor communications skills on the part of their support staff. In the end I just cancelled the service - which wasn't easy either! After a few wasted hours they agreed to cancel. Then I got a phone call from one of their sales staff. After I told him what poor service I got, he tried to persuade me to stay with the service. What an idiot! I wouldn't recommend anyone to go with TTalk unless they plan to connect a basic service from them and not make any changes - including cancelling. Just putting a block on the line when I moved house was handled badly. TTalk either don't care about bad support, or are incompetent, or take the view that some people want a service dirt cheap and are prepared to accept the service that goes with it (dirt).

When we renewed, they renaged on our contract and started charging more, stating they'de 'agreed to a contract that didn't exist' and then signed us up for another way more expensive, which we renogotiated (took about 3 hours). After a few months of blips it settled down until our phone line went dead and for a few weeks we had no landline. I then had to spend over 2 hours trawling through all their questions to book an engineer and then the fault mysteriously dissapeared 2 days before the engineer came so I had to spend another HOUR, just to cancel the engineer. Now our phone line is down again! I tried to cancel the contract and after being on for over an HOUR, finally gave up on the chat, telling them I was fed up waiting for them to set the cancellation in process and closed the chat. They've sent me a shirty message saying that if I cancel my mandate it does not constitute a cancellation and they will continue to bill me and arrears will show on my credit record. My Dad is in hospital, possibly dying and they're keeping me on a frikkin chat for a hour and STILL NOT CANCELLING my contract with them. My Mother can't get me on my landline and she hasn't a mobile so if she needs to call me its costing her a fortune. This company are despicable. I'm going to BURY them in complaint letters, the most inept and unethical company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with

Have had talktalk broadband for around 10yrs recently i upgraded to fibre along with TV package.
I got an email confirming my go live date for the fibre but nothing about TV package. I phoned Talktalk to inquire about the TV and was told there was no order placed so i placed another order, again after a few days no confirmation email and nothing on my account. Another phone call and was told no order placed so again reordered and was told i would get an email confirming delivery but of course no email arrived. Must be the worst customer service ever! They seem to want to keep you on the phone yet the call is free, i was put on hold 3 times for 10mins on one call so the agent could look at my account. Also they will promise you all sorts of things not to cancel but take my advise its all lies CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT!
