From the day I switched from Sky to Talk Talk, my connection has been very poor and constantly intermittent. I made numerous calls to rectify the issue and was told if an engineer finds a fault then I will be charged. Today I spoke to an tech who said their was nothing wrong with my equipment and the fault was with Talk Talk because they'd set the signal too high?! So it's taken 12 months to find this out... utter rubbish. Finally my 12 months are up and I've cancelled it. I shall never use this service again - be warned.

Keep away from TalkTalk. I paid up front for 12 months line rental, only for them to put the price up 2 months later so that I only received 11 months coverage. Moving house halfway through a 12 month contract resulted in them starting me on a new *18* month contract! I'm stuck with them until September and missing out on a BT Broadband deal that I wanted to take. Customer service is polite and patronizing. Instead of giving you the information you ask for, they keep saying things like "I'm here to help" and "thank you for your patience". Each time I've phoned them, I've been dragged along for over 1 hour and in some cases had to end the call without resolution because I have a real job, not a TalkTalk customer service job!

Technically, the broadband works okay. But the customer service is slow, patronizing and impossible to get any useful information from. Combined with their contract scams, I would advise avoiding TalkTalk like the plague.

Don't touch TalkTalk. First they 'slammed' me when I moved house (pinched my line and number without asking or telling me), then when I tried to leave they stung me with a £236 "contract breakage fee". It took me weeks and dozens of phone calls to South Africa to break this impasse. Their people tell you they will sort it out but they don't. Their billing is difficult to understand and impossible to change once it's there online. After 5 weeks my new provider took over my line & broadband and, after considerable stress & worry, I finally got TalkTalk to refund my "contract breakage fee" that should never have been applied. They have never apologised and I will NEVER consider joining them ever again.

this is the most shocking services i have ever had from broadband company i had 2 appotment with the engineers so i booked of work using my holidays and no show or text/email/phone so what a waste of my holidays and there still trying to charge me for my old address when i moved £200 but yet i was told on the phone i was still in the cool down period so no charge. i got a second broadband serice Virgin Media and tbh much better customer service and broadband if i was you before you think of signing a contract with talk talk rethink and have a look at all diffrent reviews from diffrent website and you will see my point why one option is better than the other.

    many thanks alan :)

If you're looking for a cheap mobile deal, do NOT go with talk talk. Their coverage is practically useless. Where I work, I have to walk around the building looking for a spot where I can make calls (I work in Huddersfield). When I visit head office, I have zero coverage all day, no matter where I am. I have to wait until I'm 2 miles on to the motorway before I get any signal. And then it's intermittent.
I'd hate to think what would happen if I needed to make an emergency call! Someone could die by the time I got a signal.
Oh... and their broadband deal! I paid up front for 12 month subscription. And now they increased the price so I only get 11 months for my payment! Anyone know who I should complain to?

For anyone who is thinking of taking up the offer of Fibre To The Premises - let me share my experience of incompetence and unacceptable customer support from Talktalk.

In November 2023 I signed up to Talktalk full fibre 150 with VoIP - The initial, agreed, FTTP installation had to be rescheduled due to TT failing to dispatch the necessary new router in time. On the new day of installation, it was discovered that TT had not included the Digital Voice Adaptor, which is needed to provide access to VoIP for my house telephone. TT assured me that one would be expedited - it took 5 days to arrive, during which, we had no home telephone connection.
After two days of good Internet, and telephone operation, our telephone connection
developed a fault - we could neither make nor receive calls.
Throught December 23, I spent numerous (unsuccess) frustrating hours on online text chat, and telephone conversations, with different TT support staff members, with promises to log the ongoing fault for further investigation. I was promised follow up calls, from Managers, and a new router - none of which ever materialised.
The TT staff I interfaced with were polite and friendly - but, incompetent. Because when I finally connected to someone who knew what they were doing, the problem was fixed within minutes.

Bottom line is - we were without a telephone for much of December 23.

I have been a Talk talk customer for several years - but, this experience has left me totally disenchanted with them.

I was without service for 7 weeks in september 16. Ever since the problem was `resolved` I have been unable to watch streamed services like netflix for freezing and buffering so instead I use the dongle from amazon firestick, Its perfect and not even a hard connection like talk talks. Despite the stress and so many countless phone calls I got an insulting compensation offered. I am stuck awaiting the contract to expire so I can change as unbelievably they wont release me from it. BE WARNED all hunky dory whilst things are ok but if you get a fault..watch out!you may finish up like us and the so called customer service call centre is shockingly poor.

Let me tell you a story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin.

I moved to North Yorkshire for work in April, leaving my wife and family up in Newcastle (too far to commute and other work commitments. Moved into a flat and decided that broadband was required as mobile data wasn't cutting it. I finally got around to getting what I thought was a reasonable deal (one off installation charges don't float my boat as it is often just a case of switching the line on). So I contacted TalkTalk online and lo and behold, my broadband was all set to go on 13th July (last Friday).

I received one text message on 9th July saying "Good news! There is no need for an engineer appointment and your service will be up and running by the 13th"

I then got another text (same day) saying I would now need an engineer, and that an appointement was made for the afternoon of 13th July. Now, I had already arranged that when I set the account up, but no they sent these two totally conflicting texts. So I called them to verify the situation. I may as well have been talking to a sea-cucumber. Eventually theys said the engineer would be there at the designated time. So I booked the afternoon off (between 12 and 5 pm they quoted) and on the appointed day, I waited for the engineer to arrive.

The equipment came through the post and I plugged it in (correctly, I may add. My degree in digital forensics and network engineering came in handy for something) sure enough, power to unit and Wi-Fi working, no internet as yet as it wasn't due to be switched on until the 13th.

So I sat in and waited. Just to check I contacted TalkTalk and was directed to their "technical help" text service. It was decided that the service was all switched on and good to go (oh! by the way, I received an e-mail to this effect at 0213Hrs on Friday 13th).

5pm came and no engineer and I am still on the text. The "techy" on the other end then "ran some checks", then asked me to identify the master phone socket type. This I did. He then asked me to try another ADSL filter. I attached the spare (I'd already tried this) so I did. No joy. He then asked me to unscrew the faceplate from the socket. Who am I? Mr Scott? "She cannae tek it Cap'n".

So I unscrewed the faceplate. He then asked me to plug into the test socket so I did that. No joy. By this time I had been on the text for 6 HOURS, and in the end the only thing he could recommend was another engineer appointment with Brightspark?

At this point I had lost the will to live and agreed to another appointment, this time between 0700 and 0900 today (17th July).

So with no internet, and the router being as much use as a bull with mammaries I accepted nothing could be done until this morning.

I sat I the flat this morning (having taken another 2 hours off work) and waited for the "Brightspark" engineer to arrive. Guess what? He didn't show up. I contacted TalkTalk tech help and got nowhere apart from being on hold while she checked with the engineers to see where they were. In a blind rage I asked to speak to a manager and she duly obliged. On came the manager who told me that the engineer was stuck on another job. Now, TalkTalk are quite happy to charge 30 quid if you miss an appointment, so I informed him (after another 5 minute hold) that I wanted to cancel my account.

He passed me onto their "loyalty" department who guided me through the process of cancellation. I then asked to speak to a customer services manager as I wanted compensation for the "inconvenience" they have caused me (7 hours pay plus phone calls). After all they missed TWO appointments.

The account has been cancelled and after almost four weeks of waiting, I have ended up with the square root of Sweet Fanny Addams. Back to square one and looking for a reliable company to get me some communications.

TalkTalk? You should be done under the trade descriptions act. NO service whatsoever, only ONE number to contact them on and then you get shoved into a far-eastern sweat shop call centre. Thanks for bugger all. Oh, and by the way, the compensation? The loss of earnings and the phone bill is just the beginning.

I may as well have connected two bean tins together with string. Crap service, crap assistance, crap company. Steer clear of these jokers.

Just changed from Sky. Slower MBps despite it being sold to me as a superfast connection. Technical advice and customer care appalling. Resolution even worse. non reply of emails. Talking with their call centre staff a nightmare. The contacts I had could barely speak fluent English. When I finally got a response to my question (fifth attempt)'can I speak to a Manager or Supervisor?', told non available all out!!

Can't wait to leave this apalling company.

Been having probs for months with slow speed and losing connection ,constant phone calls and being told line checks showed no faults and good speed of 32 to 37 mbs eventually they sent engineer out ,who told me no check had been done since 2016. And speed was 12.1 average. And basically talktalk had told me lies from thefirstphone call to the last one ,,i am so angry at thier attitude to thier customer i recommend dump them to anyone who reads this ,theycantbe trusted if thier own engineer says they lie all the time to fob you off.

I left Talk Talk because their customer service is just terrible. My home phone stopped working because the line to my house was laying in the road. No help whatsoever. Having explained this nothing was done so I left and went to BT. Just completely hopeless.

Talk Talk have been the single biggest waste of money in my family's life.
The 'high speed' broadband has rarely, if ever, been fast. It has consistently slowed to dial-up speeds or failed completely. Sometimes the wifi will work other times not, amongst all of this the so-called help desk staff have been absolutely useless, having foreign call centres is fine, even with sometimes impossible to understand accents. However, it doesn't matter where someone is from if they don't have a clue what they're doing. No matter how many times you ask me to turn my router on and off or change my WiFi channel it will not fix an underlying issue. I have now given up dealing with them and have cancelled my contact, no point paying for something that I can't use. Please avoid TalkTalk and stick with more reliable and helpful suppliers.

I have had reasonable broadband for several years but this has deteriorated badly over the past 6 months. The reception signal has become increasingly poor, and now when keying the data registers in jumps with the text appearing several seconds after it has been keyed. In calls to their help line it is clear you are talking to someone in a foreign land who's command of English and level of speech is poor and clearly has little understanding of the problem. Their standard answer is, unplug everything, leave for a while and reconnect, all of which has already been done. The truth of the matter is that Talk Talk telephone is good, but they are out of their league with broadband.

Firstly when I first signed up to talk talk they told me my payments were 21 pound a month, this instantly wasn't th case. My internet was so slow I might as well or not had it, every night I had to re boot it. All of a sudden my internet stopped working and has not been working for 9 days. I've repeatedly asked for an engineer and still no one has helped. Even worse the call centre doesn't have one singl English person that understands you. Clearly after 9 days I've told them I will not be paying for a service I'm not receiving which their reply is 'you are in a contract' I have now been told if I want to cancel I'll have to pay 307 pound

Possibly the worst ever experience I have had in attempting to deal with a Broadband/Telephone/TV provider! I wanted to move from Virgin and TalkTalk seemed to offer an acceptable alternative. I duly signed up on their website. Due to a sudden death in my family I needed to postpone the proposed installation date. This is when I entered the ludicrous world of the farcically named TalkTalk, since it is nigh on impossible to talk to anyone in TalkTalk! I went online to search for contact details for Customer Service, the several online options did not list changing an installation date. I called the 'phone number and was requested by a pre-recorded message to enter my TalkTalk 'phone number into the keypad, but obviously I did not have a TT 'phone service yet. I searched and found 4 other TT numbers and had the same response. I gave up and decided to type the chat box on the TT website. What followed could hardly be believed. I had a 'conversation' during which I was asked for email address, date of birth and a number of other nonsensical details until He/She said that they did not recognise my email address even when I advised that I had confirmed my order which included my email address. I was on the verge of losing my sanity so I said that this is a waste of time, give me a 'phone number so I can speak directly to a Customer Service Person. HE GAVE ME THE SAME NUMBER I HAD STARTED WITH ON THIS MADNESS! I shut down, went for a coffee, and remembered, there was a telephone number on the TT website for their Sales Contact....immediately answered! I asked to be put through to their Customer Services, he questioned why and after my explanation eventually connected me. The person who answered was obviously reading from a script, he/she could barely speak English, and any question I posed was obviously off script. I got nowhere. From start to finish this had taken nearly 4 hours1 TalkTalk do not deserve to exist. I would recommend that if any reader wants to lose their sanity try to deal with TalkTalk!
p.s. I never did manage to change the installation date and when or if any TalkTalk people arrive they will be sent on their way.

If you are looking for a broadband NEVER ever hire TALKTALK. Worst company, worst service, lies and procrastination. Hired the service on the 20th of september. Tomorrow is 1st of september and my internet still does not work. First, they did not send the router on time, then the connection didnt work, after that they couldnt help on the phone so they had to send an engineer, the engineer came and he said it was not a TALKTALK issue but that there was a problem with the line, MORE TIME, they sent another engineer to try to fix the line but he said that the problem was actually of the TALKTALK server, called them and now they say they will send a new router? and well after a month and a half, after spending a lot of money in mobile data so I could do work at home, we still waiting. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, avoid hiring their services 100%.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS (SO CALLED) COMPANY. I always had problems from day 1 and even with a change of ownership process (which went smoothly with any other service provider) it's been a nightmare, actually the nightmare is still ongoing. They are so far the WORST COMPANY I EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH!

It is rare for me to give feedback. Here it is. All the comments about TalkTalk being a poor service are correct. The "fast" broadband promised by a new router in my case is no different or even slower; the connection is intermittent; if you enjoy talk-talking to robots; listeing to piped music use their support service. Pay a bit more and get a decent service provider.

The worst "fast" broadband provider ever. We have speed that is 30 times slower than it should be. Tried calling multiple times but nothing happened. Customer service sucks and does nothing. After last call they told us "they have to optimize" for ten days. Well you know what **** YOURSELF, WE ARE CHANGING PROVIDER!

    Fibre large plus aytime phone
BT, even if they managed to cancel an offer by delaying the BT infinity service, was giving me a good service with 74mb connection but it was around 46 pounds a month... too expensive for me in this period
Few days after passing to TalkTalk (and paying 120 pounds as advanced line rental) , TalkTalk sent me a sort of contract stating a not mentioned in the website 30 pound one off charge for Fibre -> first complaint as I have already fibre installed at home and there was no mention of this charge in their website or the order form received via email
1 day before starting the service, I phone TalkTalk and I am told that the installation day I will receive an engineer to check the line -> none arrives
During that day for more than several hours, I call them and a message is stating the service will be available in 5 hours I call the support and I was told someone is "manually" installing my services now
I call them again to complain for a dead line and a rude lady agent tells me that as up to midnight I am not active customer and I cannot complain or escalate to team leader. I want to take part in the survey after the phone call and the agent waits for me to close the call, as she is not allowed to close the call before the customer.
Day after: For their website, I have phone line but my fibre is a little slow. In the reality, my phone is silent like a fish.
I call them to complain and before working on the issue, they want me to test by removing the plate at the master socket. I work 12 miles from home so no case logged up to 19h00.
Eventually after voicing my deep disappointment in the TalkTalk forum I was promised a call back at 19h00 at 21h30 thy produces 2 rings on my mobile... not even enough time to answer but enough for TalkTalk to say they did call back
Day 4 and still no service I call them to have an update (and their support start with usual script listing the problem I reported and telling me the BT needs to visit my property to test the line to see if I have any fault. So no phone on Saturday and obviously no phone on Sunday. I am more than unhappy, I want to speak with the cancellation department and I am informed that as they had no time to investigate the problem, I will have to pay a cancellation fee of nearly 300 pounds, but if stay with them I have not to pay for the BT engineer and I will receive 27 pounds compensation... not even enough to pay for the temp mobile internet solution I use and all the calls I made.
Perhaps Monday I will have a BT engineer around that may or may not fix the issue and if it is not fixed the issue will go back to them for who knows how many day. So far, it is sure that on the 19th with BT I had phone and internet and from the 20th to the 25th or more no service with TalkTalk, I am not free to cancel with them and to move to another provider. My home phone rings somewhere but not at home. I prefer to avoid the description of their mainly Indian customer service and the knowledge of their support (the broadband password is written on the back of the router, they tell you without considering that on the back of the router there’s the wifi password, not the adsl credentials that are not needed with a fibre connection)
However with my surprise after 4 days after the failed installation and still without service I logged in my TalkTalk account and I noticed that I was billed nearly 3 poundsfor the first two days of NO service

    Internet connection issue
The internet stopped working. They weren't able to find the issue and after 5 days they booked an engineer. After the engineer checked the line he told me and I quote " Your line has been CEASED by mistake. Your provider needs to UNCEASE your circuit and switch it back "
After chatting with 6 people on talktalk customer service and 6 different departments they were unable to find the issue.

They refuse to send me a deadlock letter or to confirm talktalk is a CISAS member.

Worst customer service, worst ISP. If I could rate 0 stars I will do it.

Ofcom reported, next will be CISAS.

This issue was first reported on 21.09.23 and still not resolved.

Talktalk keeps billing me without providing service, still delaying to send a deadlock letter or cancel the contract without exit fee.

    AVOID talktalk.

The worst company I have ever dealt with. We've been without internet for 2 months, they have still charged us and won't let us terminate the contract until they have another 28 days to fix a technical problem or we face an £80 charge! Every time I speak to the customer service center the conversation takes 50mins and doesn't get me anyway. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I have only put 1 star on the review as there is no option for a no star rating. Shocking service. If you want a cheap deal do not go with them, just pay the extra and go with a decent company. I’ve learnt the hard now, trying to charge me £280 to cancel!

They don't even deserve a star in any of these categories, the customer service is useless and no help what so ever, rude staff who don't know what they are chatting half the time. Meant to be getting at least 20mbps but instead we get between 1-3mbps at the best of times! don't even bother thinking to ever go with them, had to suffer a horrible 24 month contact with these thieving scumbags, never again!
