currently we have basic unlimited SKY Broadband with anytime calls around £33 a month The average download speed we are getting is around 2Mbs during busy times down to 1.38Mbs. This is appalling low speed for the price. The internet also freezes and we have to log out and in again during busy evening times.
My advice Pic a fibre optic connection for around the same price.

Recently I stupidly tried to move my broadband and landline to Sky. I am a Sky VIP TV member for the last 20 years.
I have been promised a broadband booster to deal with the now terrible broadband, and 3 engineer visits. None have happened. Our landline has not worked once since moving over.
Since we moved to broadband, our mobile subs AND TV subs went up this week.
I am going to seek legal action.
When my friends heard I had moved to Sky, every one, without fail, told me it was a stupid idea, as they all had awful experiences, without fail.
STAY AWAY from this incompetent company.

    Worst service ever !!
I'm waiting almost 1 month to activate my broadband, I keep calling costumer service and everyone who works in this company is completely useless !!
Also, I'm waiting hours at home to someone to come and try to fix the problem and they keep changing the days and hours !! I don't have time for this, such a waste of time and money !!!!!!

This is the worst bradoband service i have ever used. Even poor is the customer service. These guys made me wait for 20days to get a new connection whereas promised to get the connection up and running in 7days.

After getting connection there was some problem with the line and also with the router they provided. And when i complained about those in no way ther were ready to listen to me. However, when i kept on bugging them for almost 10-15 days they send one engineer to check the line found its their fault.

My receommendation to anyone whoever wants to have internet and thinking about sky, please dont do that. Instead use the 3G service provided by any other mobile operator. that will far more better than sky.

    Good luck.

I was with bethere for many years on their unlimited upto 24mb adsl2+ service and was getting around 13mb/1.3mb then sky took over .... speed dropped to 9mb :(
but due to losing my job money was tight and took a deal for phone and internet at £12.50 a month which was a bargain i could not refuse ... but i really wanted fiber, my finances improved and it was time to upgrade, went for sky fiber unlimited 40mb/10mb and have been pleasantly surprised, i upgraded my adsl cable to a high spec belkin (thick as a network cable) as i had to extend my router away from the phone socket and i am getting the full 40mb/10mb speeds promised, i am no fan of sky but had to write a honest review as so far the service has been good. im getting download speeds of 4.5mb/s and uploads of 1.2mb/s, no more waiting for 5 hours to upload a 2gb file to youtube, now its 30min :D.

It's not broadband: typically less than 1 Mbps. The customer support is just a cycle of ineffective time wasters to wear you down and make you give up. Don't go near this company: total rip off

What a surprise when we realised that the connection that we were paying was not as expected. We made a contract for one year with a maximum speed of 17Mbs. I know the maximum speed is very few times reached, but in this case it was just humiliating. I got a maximum speed of 2 or 3 Mbs.

Although the connection was worse than speaking with walkie talkies, we had to continue paying them because our 1-year contract.

I ask myself when the companies will really work for the people, and not aprofit from us.

They solve the problem saying that the information is lost during the exchange, but it is still unacceptable, we paid to have 17Mbs not 2Mbs.

I've been with Sky Broadband for five years: fibre optic with international calls included.

The service went from poor to abysmal in the last year or so. The broadband speed is as slow as it gets (keep in mind I live just outside the city, modern surroundings and Sky's own 'connectivity test' keeps telling me I have the fastest possible speed!)and, since buying a SmartTV it is downright laughable.

The box has several LAN cable inputs, not one of which actually work; you'd think it would be possible to call or email or chat to Sky about this. Think again: it isn't. Like many absolutely useless online companies nowadays, Sky have gone out of their way to make sure nobody can ever contact them about anything whatsoever.

In addition, this is the most expensive junk I've ever paid for in my life, considering the poor service, rubbish quality, slow internet speed and bad telephone connection (though that might be down to the equally useless BT). Avoid Sky if you can, unfortunately all other providers in the UK are equally rubbish.

I can't even give the lowest score. Absolutely shocking service. They cut off our broadband 2 months early due to incompetent advisors and now expect us to sign up to a new 12 month contract and won't be connected for 14 days. I run my business from home and this is not acceptable. Expect to hear from my solicitors. Absolutely disgusting service

Terrible provider, always slow, get about 6mbps and most of the time this will drop... Sky box crashes all the time, slow at downloading HD. The only compliment I will give sky is that they rarely ever go down, so in some respect they are reliable if you like browsing at low speeds, all the time. The interface for sky tv is pretty good and easy to use but I spend more time on the internet therefore I dislike it majorly.

Customer service says stuff will happen and nothing ever does.

Sadly there isnt a 'no star' rating, so Ive had to choose 1 star. Connection keeps dropping tho sky say its fine. It doesnt drop now and then, it drops regularly, dozens of times a day for as much as an hour at a time before you can get back on line. Joined 2/1/14 and as of today, we are STILL having issues. No connection for as much as 45/60 minutes at a time. Was with 02 for 6 or 7 years never an issue. Sky say they are waiting for the line to 'stableise'. They have had me plugging and unplugging things in and out. Sky are bloody useless. NO WAY would I recommend them. Its that bad, despite me currently having an offer of £15 for the YEAR (as a previous 02 customer) I am now off to Virgin and will gladly pay for it just to get the internet. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Dont waste your time and effort. Spend your money elsewhere, SKY are just totally and utterly diabolical. Cannot stress enough how useless they are. there arent sufficent words to describe their incompetance.

To be honest I'm a bit confused by some of the reviews here. We have had problems with our broadband connection and in fact the problem still exists but some of the comments about customer service are surprising to say the least. When I have phoned the advisers there have been nothing but very patient and courteous. We had a long standing problem and as a result we were given six months free! so that can't be that bad can it?

Dreadful from onset. They incorrectly took the address during initial ordering and failed to update it even though I confirmed the address an additional 3 times verbally and twice via SMS.

As I had cancelled with TalkTalk I informed Sky during ordering of the situation. I was told this would be fine and make no difference. 4 days later I receive a SMS stating they can't progress order. Long story short, Sky instructed me to resume the TalkTalk package so they could transfer the service. After a lot of faffing i completed this with TalkTalk and informed Sky on the Friday.

I was told on the Friday that all was well and the order would progress and should be complete the following Tuesday. Fast forward to Tuesday i've now been told that they automatically cancelled my order Saturday and no one could explain why.

After almost 10 days of hassle I finally gave up. Cancelled and requested a refund for the full amount charged.

Managed to order within 10 minutes with Plusnet (online, opposed to the phone). Correct address listed, and ETA's provided.

    STAY WELL CLEAR.

Awful, awful, from beginning to end. I tried twice to order broadband, and Sky set a date each time for the engineer visit and the delivery of a box. Nothing and no-one ever turned up, on either occasion. And now, five months on, I have still not been able to obtain my refund of up-front fees in spite of repeated phone calls. Utterly appalling service - I would give is zero stars if I could.

We moved to Sky Superfast (lol) Broadband around 12 months ago. At first all was good albeit someway below the levels promised - it's never felt especially fast. In recent months it's been deteriorating with more and more time spent on devices watching the screen buffering. I'm currently using my iphone about 2 feet away from the router and I can't get wi-fi despite Sky telling me everything is working as it should. It's now as bad or worse than it was with BT (copper line broadband) so I'm left wondering where to go next? Shan't be staying with Sky - shan't go back to BT - any recommendations?
PS - it's also notable that Sky do not reply to any negative reviews that people leave - they obviously see them but presumably can't be bothered or just don't care?

The good - Recently I went to leave Sky, they offered me free broadband for a year. Which is not too bad. This review is primarily my experience from 2012 - 2015.

My mobile phone runs faster than sky broad band. Constantly cut out repeated times a day. Never took responsibility, blamed me. Eventually years later they did fix it.

I wouldnt recommend sky. Only reason i am with them is they offered a good deal to stay. Knocking 50 off my bill and free broadband for a year.

Worse, is it hadn't been installed properly. I have lost use of the phone sockets in my house (a new home on 3 floors) - a socket on each floor. Sky came to my home and removed all of these, without my permission, or my knowledge. It will cost me a fortune to fix. Really not happy at all. Sky is pretty bad. Don't go there.

Had.nothing but trouble since sky bought 02 broadband. Totally unreliable. Poor speeds despite being on fibre optic. So fed up with sky that I am going to virgin media for it instead as they already do my tv. If sky dare to tell me that I'm in a contract with them, I will point out that they broke the contract with non existent service

I am surprised why I didn't got the monthly message with the amount of the bill... I guess because the price went to triple! This is the reason I am leaving not only broadband, but phone and TV too. Everyone should know how sky does!

Literally the worse internet provider. I get around 4/6mBs AND emphasis on mbs which equals BITS. You must divide it by 8 to get the bytes (which most software downloads recognise). It keeps going down at night and in the day, I'm just a user not a bill payer but if it was my choice, I would have joined virgin, YEARS AGO. Worst internet provider, DO NOT GO WITH THEM. We've rang multiple times complaining... NO FIX. Sky is the bane of my life and when I get my own place, sky WILL NOT BE IN MY HOUSE.

Sky had shown horrific customer service yesterday. I was due to have an engineer visit I order to install a new phone line so I could have sky Internet. This engineer never showed up and when I called sky to complain the tried to say I was lying about the engineer not showing.. I think I would have noticed! I was then told it would be st least two weeks to arrange another engineer visit. After a long conversation getting no help I stated I wanted to cancel the contract. I was then told I could not cancel on my 'activation date' and would receive a call back at 9am the next morning. This call back did not occur and I had to phone sky again to cancel which still took 10 minutes. I have never before been treated so terribly by a company and would advise everyone to avoid sky broadband!

Absolute crap excuse of a broadband provider, haven't had internet for 2 bloody weeks when our activation date was the 1st July. Been through 2 home hubs and a million calls to sky to try to fix problem but everyday something new messes up because of their awful service, they installed fibre and its completely cut our connection down and will have to wait another week for a man from sky to fix the thing. Do not ever use Sky as a broadband provider, terrible quality broadband and so many problems. Absolutely disgusted at them!

EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have this rule book which is made to check mate customer and not really to help. Customer service chat is ALWAYS BUSY. the department should be renamed as CUSTOMER HARASSMENT department. INstalling dish is thr problem, but removing is yours, obviously thats a additional cost to you, but then HEY its CUSTOMERS PROBLEM.

BIG TIME DISPPOITMENT-IF ANYONE WATCHING, NEVER EVER GO FOR THIS SKY TV.

I think Sky is brilliant. I have been with them for 10 months now and everything has ran smoothly. I had initial problems with getting a wifi signal from my box but the customer service person talked me through how to resolve this. I have been very impressed with their customer service. I have had to call them a few times to sort out stuff and each time they offer to call back and do so promptly. I can't recommend this company highly enough mainly because their customer service is so great. The equipment also works very well and I get wifi all the time.

I am very grateful to Eunice in the Sky Call Centre. I had an initial problem with transferring my broadband (which was on a special offer) to a new home.
the original call gave them at least two weeks notice of my intention to move. At first, there was no broadband. I then telephoned the call centre for moving home and got through to Eunice. She understood fully my concerns and it appeared that my original account had been cancelled. I explained that I had called previously. She took the time to inform her line manager. The manager then re-instigated my account over night. Eunice even phoned me back like she promised and left a lovely voicemail to reassure me that I could rejoin the original deal at the original price. It was activated immediately. Now I am back on broadband as previously. Thank you very much Eunice and her understanding manager. You are a real asset to your team. I will be returning to Sky again in the future when this deal expires.

I cancelled my Sky account in November 2013 due to changing to Virgin for a cheaper solution, all went well and closed all accounts. At the end of February 2014 I get a letter from Sky detailing an outstanding balance on my account relating to bills after I cancelled with them and furthermore bills I have not seen. Straight on the phone to get to the bottom of it and I go round and round in circles with customer services being passed from pillar to post not getting a straight answer. Finally a billing consultant confirms the error is with Sky and that they will clear the bill and close the account. All seems good. one week later I get an email and letter from a debt recovery service working on behalf of Sky seeking to recover the outstanding balance! Contact debt recovery service and they say they are just doing as told. Contact Sky and have to go round the houses again to explain the problem and get a solution. Today I have spoken to Sky, all calls at my expense as they never call back or contacted me by other means and they say they have cleared the account and notified the debt recovery service. They claim a letter will arrive in 7 days to clear this mess up, I will be surprised and suspect the next knock at the door will be the police to take me away for unpaid Sky bills! Utter rubbish and a waste of money by Sky, would be better not to have customer services and make more profit!

Being a husband to account holder gave me absolutelly no rights to discuss broadband at my home, where both me and my wife reside. No information i could provide to them was deemed useful and no work arounds, they were not prepared to help in any way. Lazy ......phaaaa

And they call themselves support... Support to whom customers or to themselves.

Pathetic speed and reliability. They say its because we are using wifi but the that is the whole point of a wireless device surely. It looses connection when we are sitting in front of the hub and you have no chance in the other rooms.

Poor service. They led me to believe I was canceling my account via email (email back and forth, they asked for detail 'in order to progress your enquiry' etc) only to be told after a week I'd need to call and start the process from the beginning (meaning I had to pay for their service another week).
They then overcharged me and told me I could call their customer service number and claim my money back after a month. Never had such bad service. Stay away!

I have had Sky Broadband for over 2 years having had lot of other providers previously.
I can honestly say that I have had nothing whatsoever to complain about.
I have had one or two outages over the years that have lasted for a very short time. I was immediately compensated for this without having to ask or apply.
Speeds are excellent and reliability is second to none. I am more than happy to recommend Sky Fibre Broadband. I have just renewed my contract and Sky have kindly dropped my price by another 4 pounds. Very happy

The worst service I have ever come across. They instead my Broadband 3 months ago and I am paying for Fibre that I am getting a download speed of 1MB and nothing will work. I will never in my life ever deal with Sky or tell anyone else to

My broadband was originally O2,really good service up to 20 meg and a was getting 18 meg as an average. Then Sky bought out O2 and the "service" steadily got worse over the months. Now down to 10/11meg really unreliable. Drops out a lot. If you ever speak to a Sky customer service rep (took me 9 attempts of holding for 15/20 minutes at a time) they don't have a clue. Basically Sky got greedy and oversubscribed the node/exchange. Now in the process of moving to Plusnet. Would not recommend Sky,total rubbish.
