Currently with Sky broadband and I have to admit I've had no problems with them. Currently get 38mbps even on Wi-Fi, only reason for leaving is I can get the broadband and line rental for a lot less (could be a big mistake in the end) but worth a try.

Please remember when these companies say Fibre they actually mean Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and not directly to the property. From the cabinet to the property it's still copper.

As an ex customer of talk talk...oh the horror the unrelenting horror...Sky has been hassle free.. to my amazement if there's a problem...dodgy line locally...rather than endlessly prevaricate, or attempt to placate you with a written script they actually resolve it... speed is adequate given this area...and the very few times I've had to speak with them...their clear precise and friendly...so felt it was worth relating this

Although it had its ups and downs, generally pleased with sky broadband.

It would cut out every now and then (NOWHERE NEAR AS OFTEN AS BT DOES, THE PIECE OF TRASH..) but it liked to cut out a few times a month.

Speed was pretty much as advertised, and it didn't drop to 0.001mb like BT broadband does.

    Would reccomend Sky broadband

I have been looking through reviews for a long time and the comments are boring and endless constant complaint for every company so who is the best and what's the alternative. Rather than rant like a typical Brit let's turn this to logic . I'm a computer programmer and know my way around . First of all if you have a PS4 or x-box then stay away from talk talk and plus net tragic management services will cause drop outs from 3 to 6pm and this will wind up your child playing fortnight then that's on you . Use these services if it's just a few mobiles and I pads prices very reasonable .. Vodafone have great BB but UK based only for mobile its the hub that lets itself down only able to manage 9 devices at a time .. virgin media offer highest download speed but they scare you into thinking you need more than you need..let's be honest how many of you out there understand speeds..?? The higher the number does not mean faster internet it's faster download ask around you home first there is no point to virgin unless you download and they are a dice roll some places amazing but differs from house to house. Now for sky this is who I'm with now great company if you know what your doing ..for the single people out there at the end of your contract speak to cancellations rather that the discount team refuse the first offer then wait for them to call you back ..in a relationship cancel at the end and start again in partners name. sky is suitable for people that love TV not a every now and then person and don't read these rubbish reviews do a Google search it top 2 rated BB providers bt and sky..bt BB and Custer service perfect all round but TV is very basic. Sky Freesat basicly..all companies have bad comments we only reveiw when we're angry and the world ain't perfect umbrellas still turn inside..one thing that did bug me is that most comments for sky are from people being with them for 25 years ..let's face it most marriages don't last long but I bet the husband or wife at least got a compliment along the way..look at off com reveiws drop outs etc amount of fines payed too being virgin at the highest very rarely providing advertised speed and ofcom are always on there heels..so far sky is best for me the best TV they have a deal now with Netflix and have the best phone network and voted the best and only done BB for 3 years..last tip of the day if you want an extra sky q mini box phone to cancel before you go live and advice another company will do set up cheaper you may get it free also take out a mini box at point of sale alot cheaper ..well free in fact..as for the rest of the dribble of messages man up princess no one cares if the engineer was late and you missed the first half of ya kids footy game has zero relavance to people making a decision ..

I have been with Sky for 3,5 years now and never had any problems. I am only a bit dissapointed in the download (10 mbp) and upload (1 mbp) speed of the internet. Wish that was a bit higher. TV is good. If you cancel extra packages it is cancelled at the end of the month and the next month you don't pay for those packages anymore. Very quick service. Very friendly customer service. Very outstanding with not having any problems for almost 4 years.

Very few problems apart from the odd drop in broadband speed. Customer service was helpful and friendly. Download speeds are usually good and streaming is fine.

After reading some of the reviews,I thought it only right to post a positive review of my time with Sky.I have been with them for a little under a year and to be honest there where a couple of problems to start with but not due to sky in my case BT connected me to a companies phone line so i ended up chasing the company to ask why i was getting their customers calling me and they told me they did not even know the line was not working but had not had any calls for days from their customers. After that was sorted i ended up with a slower internet speed due to being signed up to the wrong type of Broadband by the site i took out the deal with, idiots but once i got in touch with sky they sorted it in under 3 days,And i got 2 months worth of extra free phone calls as compensation which was nice of them as my wife likes to call her family a lot. After about 6 months the line began to drop but Sky fixed it the same day with a new plug socket and rewired the spare socket as well with a built in filter and my speed is above the average for my area which is around 8MBs i get 42MBs which is damn good i can download a 3 GB game in under 10 mins or download an Music album in around 5 to 7 mins,Even though i had a few problems Sky has been pretty good on the whole. How ever i do intend to move on as they are not good at being info friendly and unless you are tech savvy they will try it on.For the most part i would check before you sign up with any ISP if they do actually provide the service they state as in some cases you can get better service from a less well known company,I would give Sky in my case a 7 out of 10 for at least trying to provide a good level of service and connection time,But a less friendly 4 out of 10 for customer service over the phone as the call center, like most others is in India

good service overall seems speedy enuff and no major connection problems....only gripe is the email service...keep getting requests for username and passwords and it gets very annoying....sky told me its rare but it happens all the time with me....but going to sky.com/unlock and follwing thru that page usually sorts it out...apparantly its something to do with skymail being supplied by google....gets annoying tho that they cant seem to sort it....heyho

Since coming over to sky from talktalk it's been like night and day, I've gone from having no internet to full service back (after being told it was my line that was faukty by TT) customer service was friendly and helped me out. My only gripe was that I ordered sky Q after being told my property was compatible only to be good after 4 weeks on the install day that I couldn't have it, I then downgraded to sky + but as I was a returning customer from the past they weren't going to send a sky + box first of all. After a bit of negotiatiating they offered to send one for a small fee, however the 2nd hand market is flooded with them so I managed to get one off eBay for a tenner. Anyway I'm happy and I don't care if my prices rise slightky this year I'd rather pay more then go back to what I had (or didn't have)

Got Sky Fibre broadband after years and years with BT. Signed an 18month deal At £27 per month a great deal. After 2 months got a notification that the price was going up by £2 per month. Not a lot I know but niggled me as I thought I had a fixed contract. Rang Sky to be told that I had a deal for £16.99 off the normal price and it remains the same but the normal price had gone up. So when you see an advertised rate for a fixed contract don’t believe. I, check the small print. in a fit of pique I cancelled sky cinema and was advised that sports would be increased as it was part of the same package so cancelled that as well.So Sky will get their £2 increase but have lost over £30 a month due to their sneaky tactics

I am currently looking for a cheaper deal with broadband.
I cant however fault SKY, never any issues with my fibre broadband, I get 38Mb when hardwired to the router, something I think other users ( who complain ) don't actually do. they probably base their experience on doing a speed test via Wifi, not a good test. SKY are also open to negotiation when it comes to them possibly loosing your business.

So far so great! We've had sky broadband for almost a year now. Very reliable. If it goes out you just need to wait a few seconds or disconnect and reconnect right away and it will perfect. Customer service has been great. They've been really nice, answered all our questions and when we had a problem they were very reassuring and sorted the problem right away. Not perfect but pretty close!

Have been with Sky BB now for about 12 months, generally happy with it. I was with Sky before, went over to Plusnet, but then decided to try Sky again. As I say, I'm on the standard "unlimited" broadband package, supposed to be getting 17mb connection, Sky's speed tests tell me I'm gettin 14, others tell me I'm getting 11! Have just upgraded to Fibre unlimited, due to go live on 12th Jan. Fingers crossed

Having been with demon for a number of years ,the max speed was 1.5 meg then they put on a download cap , so decided to change to sky unlimited , have to say its very cheap compared with demon and is truly unlimited , they stated a speed up to 3 meg ,from day one got 4meg and just recently the speed has increased to 5.5meg , so a very happy bunny .The supplied modem/router is not very good , the wireless signal is very poor , so now using a different modem/router.
The tech help is very patchy and l only call them as as last resort.

I have been a customer with sky on/off for around 14 years(since 2006). They were one of the first providers to take advantage of the LLU which Ofcom forced BT into. At the time they offered the best price for the speed. They provided a decent router(it is still worth a few bob). In those days I had a fairly good experience, I then left for O2, only for them to be brought out by Sky and having to move onto the FTTC service at a very good price back in 2013. I think after 2 years I moved away before returning to them at the backend of 2019. My past experience is was largely very good, they were responsive and the speeds and reliability were good.

The current service I have with them is the upto 80mbps. Speedwise it is pretty poor at the moment, currently synced at 34mbps when the line had been running at 60mbps in the years between 2013 and 2016. Of course this isn't really sky's fault more openreach and most the troubles have started with the rollout of FTTP. Despite the increase in WFH the connection has been OK and not caused me to many issues. I have even come to realise that 30mbps is actually more than enough, if anything upload is way more important to me.
Another positive about sky is the lack of real traffic shaping and traffic control. During a short stint with SSE(daisy networks) I found lots of ports blocked and a range of controls. Nothing of the sort with Sky. While Sync speed to the exchange is an issue, their actual network performs very well, they appear to have lots of capacity on their backbone and I have always achieved download speeds at sync speed(uploading server permitting).

Over the years support has been pretty good to be fair, the call wait times are not too bad compared to other suppliers. In the early days they were reluctant to send out BT engineers when there were faults however in recent years they have been a lot better. For my speed issue, without contacting them they did send an engineer out, by surprise may I add. They did resolve the speed issue at the time however after a few weeks the line has begun to deteriorate again. Nothing has been done as of yet and neither have I contacted them.

I have always been a TV customer with sky therefore I have benefited from very good prices compared to the rest of the market. I found the best deal ever was offered to me by them directly for FTTC back in 2013 at a lower price than ADSL2+ at the time, which was market leading. For the overall service I dont think many suppliers can actually beat them.

Very good and reliable connection. Always connected, always above 12mb upload. To all the moaners, try changing a few simple settings on your router, and in particular the channel number- don't use the same as your neighbours!

Sky broadband is totally appalling. The latest saga in the never ending problems with our broadband is intermittent connection dropping off -if lucky 2 times an hour, if not every 5-15 minutes - it's fustrating beyond belief.

Their customer services are completely unhelpful too. I've just spent an hour and a half listening to scripted rubbish. And my internet still isn't working. Which is a shame because when it is working (not as often as it should!) it give pretty fast speeds. But that fact is futile if you can't get any service in the first place!

The TV is good, but after being with sky for 10 years+ now, switching the Internet was the worse thing I've every done. We are self employed here and the Internet is utterly vital to us getting anything done. Am DEFINATELY cancelling and looking elsewhere.

Wouldn't recommend Sky Broadband to my worse enemy.

First the bad: The router isnt great. but you can invest in a better router or in WAPs to fix that.

The pricing. Its not cheap and if you invest in sky cinema there are still a bunch of films on sky store that you have to pay more for.

The good: Customer service has always been fine. Never unhelpful... but not ground breaking either. I've always been able to get help where I've needed it.

The BB is decent though. My work computer is hard wired into the router and I never have any issues at all, I stream movies in HD on the tv (2 tvs at the same time).

Made switch from BT to Sky 3 years ago and upgraded to Sky Q 12 months ago. Get 40Mbps speed reliably and good service from Sky. Expert installation of Sky Q with new hub/router, 2 day response to Replace Sky Q box. Negotiated reduced cost for broadband connection. Can’t complain like the others.

I have had Sky broadband for just over twelve months. Have to say, during this time have had little problem with my service, odd occasion I have had to switch the router off and this has solved the problem.
I rang their Customer Services today. The reason being was my rental increased to the full amount of £7.50 as my 12 months had expired. Also had increases in the telephone charges.
OK, the call took about 50 minutes and spoke to three people, but it was free. Result as well. Better deal for broadband than I had previously been on. Reduced from £7.50 to £2.50 pm for twelve months. Can't complain with that

Reliable service but watch out for dodgy price hikes after a few months. Makes their advertising false. Should be reported to OFCOM. This practice is nothing more than a shake down.

Have been a Sky customer for 5 years, first with TV but latterly without. Have had a few grumbles with them, we had an intermittent fault on the line a year or so ago and it took them a while to track it down and fix it, so for quite a few weeks broadband would just drop out for 5 minutes or an hour for no apparent reason. It was frustrating but to be fair to them they did fix it in the end and at least they called back when they said they would etc.
Have now switched to another provider to save money and now I see what truly bad service is like I wish I had never left Sky - if I could go straight back I would, please Sky, all is forgiven, take my money, rip me off, just give me phone and internet and be polite about it, I thought in this competitive market those would be a given but actually they aren't.

I have been with Sky Broadband for a number of years even after I stopped subscribing to the TV package. Never had any problems with the broadband reliability, the router gave good wifi coverage through out my house and a fair way into my garden. Nice to be able to surf while relaxing in the sun.
I've had very little to do with the Customer Service as everything worked. When I had queries the staff were helpful.
I moved away from Sky when their packages became pricy for the speed being offered compared to competitors.

    Hello,
I just moved to new property after being customer with Sky for a year and they have been helpful and cancel my old contract as i was not sure if my new property will be ok for Sky.
Once i moved called them and within 3 days i got the Hub and next day the engineer to check my line.
After the internet was activated i struggled to go online but Alex the Bulgarian agent on the phone was bery polite amd explained everything to me so i can understand that it was phone line issue not Sky.
He advised me someone within 72 hours will fix this and i should have broadband on.
He kindly ask me if i am aware that the number i dial is chargeable and i said i know.
I think Sky need more agents like Alex as he was extreamly friendly amd professional in same time.
I hope this will go directly to him amd he deserve Big Well done and thank you for your help.
    Much appreciated

Ive been with Sky for nearly 10 years and was thinking of moving to another provider purely to try and save some money. There are so many bad reviews for ALL the providers i've decided to stay with them as they've never let me down, and the last twice i've called them i've not had to wait longer than a couple of minutes to speak with someone. Always helpful, always pleasant. Maybe a little more expense than some of the comparisons. People are happy to leave bad reviews, thought I'd leave a positive one!

Overall Sky is good but still expensive. We get broadband speeds of 5 which is pretty poor but their fibre option not available in our area and not sure about the transition to Virgin Media as their customer service seems a lot worse, reminds me of the nightmare we had with Telewest years ago! Overall Sky okay, just wish fibre was available.
We have full TV and phone package too, only wish we could drop kids TV channels to reduce the costs but that's stitched up with other channels we do want! Very frustrating

My ISP are without a doubt extremely customer orientated & very efficient at dealing with any shortcomings. My only complaint is with BT! In this location, it has been essential to opt for fibre optic as the landlines supporting the service are as layed in the '70s of aluminium. During pressurized times, during the holiday periods below 2Mb was not unusual, whilst when holiday traffic was at a minimum an optimum of slightly over 4Mb was achievable. The annoying factor is that it is imperative to have a fibre connection, be it to the Town Cabinet in order to achieve what some consumers would grade as pultry signal strength at an absolute maximum of 18.5Mb.
