I can not recommend BT highly enough. I have been a customer of virgin broadband for many years. I would have weekly problems, hours with no internet and “glitchy” internet. I was nervous to move supplies but a neighbor recommended and I can’t believe I waited so long to move! I get WiFi in every room with no glitches at all! I can’t telk you what the technical support is like (Virgin’s was terrible!) because I haven’t had to use it in 10 months!! I urge everyone to move!

i pay for the 12 month contract called up btwifi to find out date of payment and thanks to the great customer service I was able to change the date and move 2 months payments into a month after, only complain is the speed, 1mb/s for download and 6m/s for upload why is upload higher and if I could get a better speed that would be amazing as some files take ages to download if they are 1gb or more.

BT wifi! I was told by BT was what I had paid for was someone else's Internet and the speed of it all based on if that person was using there Internet and all this was in the small print.
Awful. I was refunded my remaining time. The service provided was a rip off and the customer service was average.

If you have ever had BT broadband and don't any longer then DO NOT buy the packages from the hotspot use your old details to access the hotspot, i had BT broadband 2 years ago then one day a hot spot was installed around 50 yards from my property so one day i tried to use my old details (Bt account) and it connected me with no issues now i don't even pay for my internet and further more install BTwifi app when out and about it connects you straight away no signing each time you want connected, The connection to the hotspot allows me to watch videos online and even use it to play games online, I connect my pc to the hotspot then turn my PC into a Virtual Hotspot so everyone in my home can use the internet.

Adequate for most purposes but there are too many occasions when the connection drops out. Cabinet is about 300m from house - therefore last 300m are in copper - and when I first made this connection the upload was usually aroun 10mbs but over time there has been a steady deterioration.

All told it is hit and miss with these guys. They do inform us it is not designed for permanent home use...but they know people will see a wi-fi service and use it at home, if its available. Just an excuse to give below average service. .

Lately the service has been very poor. Seems like 50% of the time I cannot connect to the internet.
Had very good Customer Service a few weeks ago regarding my account - staff are great but connection can be egregioous.

It's a scam, through and through. DO NOT PAY FOR BT-FON OR YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF. Pay for bt WiFi? You can use WiFi and fon, but connect to fon and pay? You're only allowed to use fon. It's the same prices, same login, they just like to mislead consumers.
The most egregious part is that your net may be fine, but if you get a 30 day voucher, they will flip the throttle to the max, to the point where I can't even access this website.
You can test this yourself. Pay for 1 hour, do a speed test, log out, login your 30 day account, and magically, your speeds will plummet to the ground. Swap back to your 1 hour account and magically the internet is fast again.
They scam you into paying for more time, trying to save money, and once you're hooked, they cut off the service and tell you where to shove it

I am in temp housing for twelve weeks while work is done on my flat so I decided to get a pay as you go broadband, this was pretty cheap at £120 for 90 days with no contract. For some reason the 90 day option never worked at the start when I joined so this added £30 I did not need to spend.
The speeds are decent for me at 5mb both up and down, but the uptime is around 90% with too many random small outages and too many hour plus disconnects.
As far as I can tell I get wifi from the local startbucks which is probably something you need if you want any decent monthly amount of download and I do get close to 1tb a month with constant downloading.
It is a decent temporary service for me, let down by the terrible cust serv and low reliability.
I would have given it two stars for reliability but it requires you to log on daily at 3am to 5am or it stops, so I usually have another two to four hours downtime every day.

Extremely unreliable. Connection will randomly drop, sometimes the sign in page won't show, sometimes you won't be able to even connect to the router. The speed is usually fine. Prone to randomly disconnecting or requiring you to sign in again literally minutes after first signing in

I try to use hotspots when in the West and North of Scotland. Used to be O.K. Not always there but once you connected, it was not too bad. Now in the last 12 months the message comes up every time "cannot connect". I have moved my locations but clearly the hotspots have weakened to the point of uselessness. Now almost a waste of time. So called Super Hotspots, well there is one about 150 metres away and I cannot even get a signal. Did they give up or do they turn everything off when they shut the office door at 5p.m.?

There is now a box for fibre optic at one end of our village. I an more than the 1.2 km required from the box to receive faster broadband. On the other side of the box there is only 2 houses. Why did the box not go in the middle of the village so that we could all get it? Disgraceful and a waste of money.

I had lived in Manchester, Hongkong , macau and now the 4th years in Brighton, I can swear that BT wifi is the WORST idea ever. I never made any feedback for anything, not hotel stay not restaurant BUT i have to make feedback now TO LET PEOPLE KNOW that PLEASE DO NOT USE BT fon, not talking about downloading or loading either movies or video, but GOOGLE TRANSLATE, it took me at least 15 mins to load. Yes !!! 15 mins for google translate or any web page. As a student, there are tons of work to be done daily and with 'Speed' like that its killing me! Please DO NOT USE IT. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND.

Terrible stability, slow connection and impossible to hold a connection on, can't play any online games because the games will disconnect instantly or give me 300+ ping and keep on climbing till the connection just stops and I disconnect, it's atrocious and the only reason I haven't switched is that no one else supplies to this area. Worst part is I'm paying for way more upload and download than I am getting, have their most recent hub and most expensive package and this problem still happens.

Literally the worst. Never works, nothing except my laptop can connect, and that's a bit difficult. What I'm trying to say is - it's a massive waste of money - you could get broadband for half the price and a hundred times the speed from the flipping post office. Just... Don't.....

Christ. It's 2020. At £7.99 for a days usage you would think it would work like even Elon Musk could depend on it. But no, it's more like an artificially intelligent spiv. It's the Arthur Daley of internet connections.
Got me out of a jam though...

This so-called service throws even awful Lebara 3G off the throne of flies. What a stinker. Most of the time you won't find reliable connection. I've literally scanned the streets of central London on emergency. You will get very familiar with messages like "Out of reach", "Obtaining IP address", IP address errors etc. And as someone stated, it disconnects randomly between 3 to max 15 minutes even if miraculously getting 4 bar service. Avoid at all cost (day ask big money for this junk) unless you get a free voucher or something.

Extremely bad and grossly overpriced. Connection often unavailable and subject to frequent disconnects. Logging on fails half the time as system often does not recognise you. Very slow speed.Essentially there is no customer service just the usual roundabout of form replies. No customer service number for personal help. Don't water your money.

As I was in the process of moving house and didn't want to have to subscribe to another 12-month BT contract I decided to try out the service as it was cheaper than being on the rolling BT Infinity contract.
After about 2 weeks use, what a waste of time. The connection is very unreliable, despite my Wifi scanner picking up about 5 different APs and the connection having full 5 bars. The response time can go into the 3+ seconds with packet loss as high as 75%.
My iPad on 4G is more reliable than this.
If like me you need to work from home, don't rely on this...a carrier pigeon would be quicker.

The worst broadband provider I have ever been with
WiFi drops out completely all the time and bt always insist I need an engineer who comes over and says nothing is wrong..
Wifi speeds are always dropping to under 3 when promised fiber speeds.
Have made complaints over and over and have been promised compensation but never heard back. Will be leaving for sky asap.

First time using BT Wifi wth Fon whilst working away from the office for a few days. The Wifi connected immediately with high signal for me to enter card details to make a payment. Immediately after entering my card details, the signal disconnected and would not reconnect. Very appalling service and an absolute rip off!!!

This is quite honestly the worst experience I've ever had in any form of service. I signed up for bt hotspot WiFi and at first was pretty good. Not the best but manageable for my needs. But then after my first monthly payment, on that same day I completely lost signal. I managed to find some WiFi and made a written complaint. Oddly enough my WiFi came back on 6 days after the same day I received the email back from the two working day reply policy they have. And told me to contact the technical department. Well after I had been reconnect anyway, all I've experienced is disconnectios, and has been gradually getting worse and worse. Today I have been disconnected at least 20 times. And the connection is extremely weak at the moment. It can't even load a picture on a webpage. If tried all sorts of routes to complain. Was advices to a link on there complaints page ironically it disconnected as I was trying to do this. Eventually got on hoping I could do a simple email complaints. Oh know just found automatic questions that had know relevance to my complaint about the hotspot. I've now left 12 email complaints hoping this will annoy them as much as I'm currently annoyed. I even disconnected twice trying to write this. It seems that they lure you in then bang a first payment happens than all goes downhill from there. I have to say, I am shocked that a national company are able to still operate in this way given the amount of complaints they obviously receive. I could understand it if I was paying £5 per month, but £26 for hotspot not to properly work?! Why even have the service if it's that bad. It's obviously a scam of some description. This needs investigation surely. There is acts in law that should prevent these things from happening. especially when money is being paid for a service.

I am utterly appalled and disappointed with the service and quality of this product. My wifi constantly goes down, and provides awful speeds when working. The range is also shocking, with it barely even reaching one room. This is particularly disappointing, considering their alleged 'whole home wifi' promise.
Despite this, what really makes this company stand out for their abysmal quality is the customer service. One man I spoke to was outrageously politically incorrect, and perhaps indeed racist. His hardline right wing views weren't asked for, but he forced them on me regardless.
It is safe to say I will not be using this device again.
