Default Homeplug Networking Problem

Hi!

I have O2 broadband which, to date, I cannot fault. I was using a homeplug system to connect my pc (XP Pro) and PS3 which were running without issue.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new pc which runs Windows 7 64 bit and that connected fine both wirelessly and via the homeplug. Mysteriously the connection went down overnight and I spent hours on the phone with O2 trying to resolve the issue. Eventually they sent me a new router as it seemed inconceivable that 3 homeplug units could all fail at the same time (the wireless had also become unstable)

The pc running XP Pro I wanted to relocate upstairs, the one with Windows 7 I want downstairs. However, even with the new router I cannot get either of the pcs connected by the homeplug network. The Windows 7 pc will connect if I use an ethernet cable directly to the router, and will connect wirelessly, but I don't want to keep the pc where it currently is and prefer not to connect wirelessly (I want a stable connection for online gaming) and I don't want trailing wires. The XP Pro pc (upstairs) has no wireless card, but I would still prefer the homeplug system.

Any ideas please?
Thank you in advance
Cathy
